My son being born in July Smile

My brother, having been diagnosed with the most aggressive form of pancreatic cancer last Spring, learned after surgery in November that he had been misdiagnosed and in fact had a very slow-growing, benign type of pancreatic cancer.

He's gone from a life expectancy of 2 years to 'See you in 10 years for a review'. Smile

These are all so lovely!
Mine is my youngest DS12 who moved schools due to a horrible and incompetent teacher who had been making his life miserable. We put him in a new school and within a week, his depression lifted, he made great new friends and has had great opportunities which he's grasped with both hands.
I have my happy boy back.

Getting a new job & career after unexpectedly losing the previous one
Becoming closer to my parents
Rediscovering my sense of humour, my quick-wittedness and general joie de vivre.
It's been a long time coming!!

Stronger than ever after breakdown in 2014, separation in 2015 and huge upsets they inevitably bring. 2016 was a motherfucker. The only way was up. I'm really pleased with myself.

chockaholic72 · 27/12/2017 01:40

Trekking to Everest Base Camp and getting there on New Years Day.

Buying my brother out of our shared inherited house after a long, painful struggle and lots of arguing and becoming a bona fide home owner and single woman of substance.

AyeAyeFishyPie · 27/12/2017 03:11

Buying a house and falling pregnant. It's been a hell of a year.

Lily2007 · 27/12/2017 04:10

Having a job I love with lovely colleagues, getting a few reports published there and press coverage and them letting me work school hours so I can be with my lovely children after school and all summer.

Kids and I cuddling a sloth and feeding raccoon family and DS (10) calmly ziplining from 300 metres up.

DS being fine at school after struggling to cope in the past and DD getting into grammar school. DS still often cuddling me and telling me he loves me more than anything in the world.

TheWeatherGirl1 · 27/12/2017 04:17

Age 43, having a healthy, bouncy baby boy. And then realising that I rather liked him.

FirsttimemumJan18 · 27/12/2017 04:19

Becoming pregnant with our first child (expecting a little girl in only 9 days!) after a an emotional & financial rollercoaster IVF Journey. I feel the luckiest woman in the world, despite the Pelvic Pain, Heartburn, Insomnia, Duck Waddling impressions & the ‘Are you sure you aren’t having twins!!’ Comments... every ailment is so worth it x

FirsttimemumJan18 · 27/12/2017 04:20

@TheWeatherGirl1 Congratulations!

RarelyInfallible · 27/12/2017 04:33

My son, who’s had a terrible year with health problems that he’s battled to (largely) overcome, ending the year by conceptualising and organising a charity fundraiser. Very proud of the lovely young man he’s becoming.

Saladtongs · 27/12/2017 05:34

I love this thread!

Mine are: having a wonderful start to the school year, in a challenging setting, where I feel I’m making a difference.

My son moving in with a really wonderful partner who we all love.

DD getting direct payments, so she can gain a level of independence and we can have a little respite.

CoconutGal · 27/12/2017 06:32

Finally finding a job that brings out the old me again. I lost my dream job half way through the year & struggled to get my confidence back & was really low. But my new job has made me feel alive again. Also deciding to start trying for a baby with DH. The process of trying has bought us closer
