Hello,
Can anyone tell me what's the best reasonably-priced electric teapot MADE IN THE UK, of course? I'm in the US and all that are available here are made in China. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure Aldi did a version not long ago too!

OMG we were only talking about these at work today because the boss is a bit of a tea fetishist and apparently different sorts of tea are meant to be made at different temperatures. Yeah right!

This led to a discussion about whether these things can take atmospheric pressure in to account because obviously water boils at a lower temperature the higher you are above sea level. Someone found a chart to show what boiling point would be wherever you live. (We are busy honestly but this is an office full of software engineers )

I don't think much is manufactured here either, it all seems to come from elsewhere. Our tenants had a really nice electric tea maker but they were from another country and it wasn't made in the UK. It was kind of ornamental but also useful, probably a samovar and they made us spiced tea. I coveted it.

These are the modern version

I WANT THOSE ELECTRIC TEA POTS - EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!!!! WHY DID i NOT KNOW THEY EXISTED???

theymademejoin · 22/12/2017 00:58

I got all excited at Taco's link, chose international delivery, got over my bemusement at being asked "where would you like your order sending?" (do they not have anyone to check the grammar?) and scrolled down through the list of EU countries only to discover the only EU country not listed is Ireland, despite the fact they sell to Ireland. Why are we not allowed a bargain when everyone else in the EU is? Is it because of Leo Varadkar's stance in the Brexit talks? Not fair.

Whatever it is you're after OP, it's unlikely that it would be made in the UK.
Most of our electrical stuff is made in the Far East.

Weedsnseeds1 · 22/12/2017 08:47

Only problem is thinks made for UK market don't work very well.inthe USA due to the different voltage of the power supply.
Hairdryers and the like are a pathetic shadow of their normal selves once plugged in over there.

IJustLostTheGame · 22/12/2017 09:31

The Heston one is easy to use. It boils the water, infused the tea in the basket (must be leaves), removes tea from water, keeps tea hot at a consistent temperature for an hour, no stewing. It has other settings and can be put on a timer but I haven't bothered so far after having one for about 3 years Blush
