Is a £10 tip an insult for my one off cleaner?

This isn't a humblebrag or virtue signal or any other thing like that - I genuinely want to know if this is ok or insulting.

I'm pregnant and nearly immobile with SPD plus I'm asthmatic and getting over bronchitis. I decided that I'd sacrifice some of my Christmas treats and pay for a one-off cleaner which is costing me £90 via an agency.

My total budget for this was £100 so thought I'd maybe give her the whole £100 so she'd get a £10 tip.

She's done a really good job and I want to give her a bit extra but I really don't have more than that.

I don't have a cleaner normally so have no idea if this is ok - would your cleaner feel ok about that if you have one?

Sorry for such a boring question.

Cleaners don't expect to get tips normally so I sure that she will be pleased with it.

Sounds absolutely fine.

Theconifers25 · 21/12/2017 15:05

I think £10 is perfectly acceptable.

Merryoldgoat · 21/12/2017 15:05

Thank you both.

We get one off cleaners in pretty often and have never tipped them.

JoJoSM2 · 21/12/2017 15:36

I’ve never tipped a cleaner. And you’d paid tons of money for the clean anyway.

zeebeee · 21/12/2017 15:38

Perfectly fine and very nice of you. £10 is what I gave my cleaner in her Xmas card and she's my weekly cleaner.

ThymeLord · 21/12/2017 15:39

I'd have been very happy with that when I was a cleaner. Certainly wouldn't expect anything at all.

Merryoldgoat · 21/12/2017 15:58

Thank you everyone.

Very fair. Bottle of plonk would be cheaper and still nice

Suebreo · 21/12/2017 16:48

Generous I’d say Padawan

Merryoldgoat · 21/12/2017 17:41

Thank you all - she seemed very pleased. She did an excellent job and has significantly reduced my Christmas worry/workload.

I was wondering if I could swap her for my husband until the baby gets here...

I have my cleaner a £10 in her Xmas card, plus a box of chocs. Your £10 tip to a one off cleaner is fine.
