So I was talking to a friend today about Hey Duggee and the stick song!

She said she has read about parents and children wanting it to be Christmas number 1 in the charts!!

Yes... yes it should!! Kids love it I love it! And Christmas is mainly for the kids! Grin

AIBU!!?

No. Christmas isn't about kids.

Christmas is about coming together with loved ones and catching your breath midway through the dark winter with a good pagan-style feasting, drinking and bright light extravaganza.

FoxyRoxy · 20/12/2017 20:00

My kids won't stop singing that song 🙉 I'd like a Christmas number 1 to be a Christmas song but I think I'm still living in the 80s so I'll join your campaign OP Grin

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 20/12/2017 20:06

Christmas is about the Baby Jesus. So I think Christmas #1 should be Hey Santa Claus by Kevin Bloody Wilson.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 20/12/2017 20:10

Nobody wants that to be no. 1. Seriously?

Amanduh · 20/12/2017 20:15

It was funny the first time I heard it.
We're on about day 10 of the advert with it on and it's not anymore 😂 Christmas isn't mainly for the kids though.. and I like proper Christmas no 1's (which haven't been christmassy for years but I live in hope)

BothersomeCrow · 20/12/2017 20:19

It would be great for no.1 except that Andrew Ridgeley has made a heartfelt plea for Last Christmas to finally get to no.1 in memory of George.

Crisis homeless choir singing "streets of london"

Andrew Ridgeley has made a heartfelt plea for Last Christmas to finally get to no.1 in memory of George.

I'm sure George Michael would actually prefer the crisis homeless choir to get to number 1 for Christmas

Didn’t bob the builder make no1 once? (Not Christmas though). So why not? You’ve got my vote. It’s our favourite song in this house!

MiltonTheCockroach · 20/12/2017 20:52

I have no idea what song you are talking about but I fucking hate 'novelty' songs that grate by the 3rd or 4th hearing.

MrsHathaway · 20/12/2017 20:57

Mr Blobby was #1 once Confused

So long as it isn't yet another so-called talent show winner.

RavenLG · 20/12/2017 21:14

I don't have kids but listened to this song after a friend posted it on facebook (his DD was obsessed). I'm 30 and it's brilliant. Better than the x-factor tat that is recycled and who doesn't love a booze fulled rave on xmas day to TOPT!

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 20/12/2017 21:25

I opened this thread to post The Stick Song before I'd read your op.
Although now I feel bad about not saying the charity ones.

LittleMe03 · 20/12/2017 21:50

Hmm well it was meant lighthearted and in no way to offend

OP posts:
Greenshoots1 · 20/12/2017 21:53

no ones offended, I don't think

BouleBaker · 20/12/2017 21:55

I knew this would be about The Stick Song. What the hell were they smoking when they made that episode!!

GrooovyLass · 20/12/2017 22:18

Pretty sure Bob the Builder was a Christmas number one...

MiltonTheChristmasCockroach · 20/12/2017 22:27

well it was meant lighthearted and in no way to offend

Hmm

Who has taken offence?

You're weird.

LittleMe03 · 20/12/2017 22:31

stick it in the bin love

This had made me think I may have offended someone.

Nothing weird about not wanting to offend anyone by my post Confused

MichaelFabricantsHair · 20/12/2017 22:32

Didn't even realise 'the charts' still existed! I think of Bruno Brooks and Simon Mayo when I think of the charts...

Never heard of the song you've mentioned but it sounds really cheesy, which in turn makes me hope it bombs without a trace Xmas Grin

Babababababybel23 · 20/12/2017 22:33

I sing it to my 3 months old and she laughs her head off. That's the only reason I tolerate it

MiltonTheChristmasCockroach · 20/12/2017 22:37

OP It's pretty difficult to offend many people on AIBU, that's the nature of the beast.

The 'stick it in the bin love' was obviously a play on words based on the name of the song.

My 'weird' comment was meaning it's weird you would think you'd offended anyone with such an anodyne post.
