About my neighbour's festive music?

One of my neighbours (to the side of us) always puts on a big show of Christmas lights and decorations outside his house. Each year, another expensive piece of kit is on show. That's fine--the DC's love it.

However, this year, they have taken to playing crappy Christmas music outside their house from 3pm to about 10pm. They've been doing it for 3 weeks now. Every single day. They must have put a speaker somewhere. It is really pissing me off. I work from home and all I can here is a faint tinkle of music. It's similar to hearing the ice-cream van playing its tune. I can't concentrate and it's driving me mad. Goodness knows what the neighbours who are closer to them think as they will definitely be able to hear it inside.

AIBU to think that inflicting Christmas music on the entire street is unnecessary?

You have my total and utter sympathy Op. who the hell does that when they have neighbours

Badbadtromance · 20/12/2017 18:36

I've heard it all now...

YANBU. I’d call that noise nuisance, and for seven hours a day isn’t on. I couldn’t tolerate it, and would have to speak with them about it.

Paperdolly · 20/12/2017 18:52

Speak to them about a possible compromise like, "I admire your effort but could we have it on a lower volume please as I'm still having to work and am finding it difficult to concentrate thank you 😊?"

I’m a wimp Blush. I’ve pulled out some noise cancelling headphones. DH has poor hearing so he can’t hear it.

Could you not knock on all your other neighbours' doors and descend en masse on the perpetrator? Pose as carol singers so he opens the door, then give him a petition signed by all the neighbours!

RestingGrinchFace · 20/12/2017 19:06

How could anyone possibly be self-centred enough not to realise that that is just not on? Let them know that they are being complete and utter dicks (more politely than I would obviously).

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 20/12/2017 19:52

YANBU, but it's not going to stop unless you say something.

Badbadtromance · 20/12/2017 19:53

Can you call 101 and log it?

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 20/12/2017 19:54

Can you call 101 and log it? [GRIN]

Fellia · 20/12/2017 19:54

Bad 😂

DailyMailReadersAreThick · 20/12/2017 19:54

Grin, even

I wouldn't get a petition together. Just go around and nicely explain what you have done on here. Don't be British and send a note, it's easier to set the right tone in person.

Then if they continue, them you escalate it ( or wait until Monday!)
