To update you on last year's AIBU?

I've name changed a lot since then, but this time last year I posted on AIBU about uninviting DBro and SIL for drinks on Christmas day evening.

The jist of it was that DH and I had just found out we could not have children, and DBro and SIL had just found out they were having a baby a couple of months after they had met. SIL was being particularly insensitive about it and said some pretty nasty things that upset me, and I didn't want to spend my Christmas day in tears.

So for those of you who remember, here's the update:
DNiece was born in the summer. She is a beautiful little ray of sunshine and I adore her.
SIL is still not my favourite person but I have put the past behind me and moved on and actually enjoy her company now, and we are building the foundations for a very good and very positive friendship.
DH and I decided to adopt and bring our own baby home in two weeks.

I look back on this time last year and cannot believe how much has changed. I'm about 5 minutes away from being a #feelingblessed wanker

Thats such a wonderful epilogue! That is real christmas cheer. I was speaking to an elderly couple yesterday who I thought were with their tiny grandson. They told me that they had fostered the biy since he was 2 days. I was nearly in tears and wanted to give all the hugs (but was struggling with an armful of toddler myself)

That's great news and a great way to bring the new year. I'm on month 5 and my LO is 15 months. Just prepare yourself for the madness and whirlwind of love.

Congratulations!!! I remember reading this last year when we were waiting for that matching phone call and my dsis had just had my lovely nephew and sobbing.
We too got our match in january for our 3 month old lg, best feeling ever mixed with sheer terror

The process has been streamlined in the last couple of years and when done right should follow that time line. Good luck with your journey!

What a lovely update - thank you for posting it. Maybe it will give others, who are in a bad place now (for whatever reason), hope that things can improve over time.

Aww congratulations, I'm so happy for you. That's a lovely age, is he walking and talking yet? Our children were 10 months (DS) and 14 months (DD) when they came to us, and they were both definitely babies rather than toddlers as neither were walking or talking at the time. It's a lovely age. Do drop into the Adoption topic if you need any support or reassurance (I haven't been there for ages, I really should though as they are all lovely).
