Die Hard is not s Christmas film

And it's so boring.

We have a night a week where we drink prosecco and watch a film. Now it's December we're doing Christmas films.

DP chose Die Hard for this week. Although I am admittedly enjoying Alan Rickman as a German Snape, I think the rest is awful.

It's set at a lame office party on Christmas Eve and there was a sad unlit Christmas tree in the foyer I think...

AIBU to think that does not a bloodychristmas film make?

But, but.... Christmas would surely be ruined for all the hostages forever?!

They would all have PTSD and jump out of their skins when they had to pull Christmas crackers or there was a party popper.

I'll give you that the fifth one probably shouldn't have made it past pre-production. But the other four Die Hard films are masterpieces of entertainment.

I like Die Hard but this tweet I read sums up how I feel about all the people who wang on about it being their favourite Xmas film.

YANBU - not w Christmas film

It is a brilliant Christmas film, real feel good factor. However disastrous your Christmas is you have to feel good if you compare it to the Die Hard Christmas. Over tired children, dry turkey, lumpy custard, nightmare MIL? Who cares you could be in Nakatomi Plaza.

Aw. Well, perhaps it was sort of weirdly heartwarming when the cuddly nice cop guy got his mojo back and was able to shoot and kill again. Ahhhh.

YANBU great film, but it isn't a Christmas film. It has elements of festive spirit but the plot is not based specifically around Christmas (disclaimer: I am very passionate about Christmas movies. I also know I need to get a life )

When I was young 'The great Escape' was a Christmas film tradition. Its not Christmas without a prison break from a WW2 Nazi camp.

Not only is it a Christmas film, it's also one of the best novel-to-film conversions, along with The Godfather, Jaws, and Shawshank Redemption.

I love it, its definitely one of my favourite Christmas films, I'm glad I'm not the only one, one of the few films I can re watch in fact.

However me and DH have this exact same argument! He insists it's his favourite Christmas movie, and I'm like "IT'S NOT A CHRISTMAS MOVIE!!!"

Elf is a Christmas movie. Festive cheeriness. Not people being held hostage and terrorists and killings.
