I was sure there was a think 24 policy in place, where if you looked under 24 you didn't get served....well I just spent the whole night looking after my paralytic 16 yr old dc who came home having been served in a pub...in fact dc spent the whole evening in pub repeatedly getting served...this was a Xmas party for a sports club, with the club manager there as well, supposedly looking after the kids, I stupidly thought.granted dc shouldn't of tried to get served, but shouldn't pubs be asking for id ?

Meh tell him not to do it again.

The bloody idiot.

HerOtherHalf · 10/12/2017 16:42

Licensing authority. Also, surely the club coaches have a duty of care that they have breached. What's the point of them having to undergo background checks if they then take minors out and let them get paralytic whilst in their care? You could look into who to report them to be that the sport's governing body or council.

Cancerisacunt · 10/12/2017 16:43

Do you want your dc to continue to go to the sport club?

GetOutOfMYGarden · 10/12/2017 16:43

I'd be asking a lot more questions.

  1. Did your son get drunk at the pub - or before/after that with his mates?
  2. Is your son bullshitting about getting served so a friend with ID who did get served for him doesn't get into trouble?
  3. What were the sports club leaders doing at the time?

Think 25 isn't law. Give your DS a thorough dressing down in the morning rather than going after the pub.

EmilyChambers79 · 10/12/2017 16:44

If they look under 25, they have to prove they are over 18.

Does he have fake ID?

Twuntingattheweekend · 10/12/2017 16:45

No,no fake Id .

OP posts:
Cancerisacunt · 10/12/2017 16:46

You don’t think they have fake id. But I bet they had or have access to some

Coconutspongexo · 10/12/2017 16:47

How can you be sure he doesn’t have fake ID he isn’t exactly going to show you is he?

ThisBigSky · 10/12/2017 16:48
  1. Double check on the fake ID point.
  1. Double check that your son didn't drink prior to arriving, or after leaving, the pub.
  1. Corroborate both of these points.
  1. Give your son a bollicking regardless of what happens with 1 and 2. Point him in the direction of some healthy drinking materials to read. Start having some open and frank discussions regularly about alcohol.
  1. Contact Club and state displeasure that they have a young adult's party in a venue that serves alcohol (whole unnecessary and a huge gripe I have).
  1. Contact Pub and ask them what they will do to ensure this doesn't happen in the future; will staff be given ID training, or do you need to take it further.
MyLittlePeach · 10/12/2017 16:49

Drop it! Underage drinking is part of life.. not like he's 11!

Twuntingattheweekend · 10/12/2017 16:50

How things change,2 yrs a go dc was chucking up after to many milkshakes at the party in Nando's..now it's booze..meh...I didn't think my dc was that child getting pissed, nor me that mother blaming everyone else..

ThisBigSky · 10/12/2017 16:53

Underage drinking is part of life

Attitudes like this are why our society has a huge problem with alcoholism and alcohol related ill-health.

Honestly? I'd put it down to experience. I doubt your dc will be rushing to repeat it!

purplecorkheart · 10/12/2017 17:06

How do you know he has no fake id?

Twuntingattheweekend · 10/12/2017 17:06

Very true gardengeek ,very true indeed 😀

Were they eating a meal? Are you sure they were going to the bar themselves?

If they were eating a meal and someone 18 or over was buying then the bar will be in the clear.

Purple...how do I put this...dc is not the type...without meaning to be mean to dc ,life is school study, rinse and repeat..never goes out...

purplecorkheart · 10/12/2017 17:12

Trust me double check his wallet. The main producer of fake ids in my school was a star student who never went out, went to church every morning and was the quietest person you ever came across.

Twuntingattheweekend · 10/12/2017 17:14

I've checked wallet and phone ,nothing a miss

He's 16, he's got drunk and I imagine has regrets this morning. I doubt it will be the last time he drinks too much.

I really couldn't get worked up over it TBH, How many people here bought alcohol underage in pubs or clubs? The majority I expect.

Chill.

Twuntingattheweekend · 10/12/2017 17:30

Yeah I'm chilling..(trying to chill.)bit disappointed in dc...thought I'd done a better parenting job.😩

You're being hard on yourself, you've not done a bad job based on the details you've stated here, he's just misjudged his limits and I'm sure he egrets it today.
