I've just seen on Twitter the news about the YouTuber who put his head into a microwave & then filled it full of poly filler.. Hmm
West Midlands fire service have posted a video basically saying every time they respond to stunts like this they are obviously then not able to go to actual emergencies & this call out would have cost £650.

Aibu to think if someone does something as stupid as this they should be fined?

I've watched the YouTubers response video & whilst he says thanks to the emergency crews, I don't actually think he seems all that apologetic..

I remember a couple of years ago another you tuber threw himself off Tower Bridge for a bet & had to be rescued, he then raised quite a bit of money for the lifeboat charity as thanks.

The guy who did that is a weapons grade barrel of wanksocks. He even posted another video justifying his behaviour too, he is a complete 🔔🔚. He should absolutely be fined for his behaviour.

Big time. He should have died if Darwinism gad really been in action.

OtterInDisgrace · 11/12/2017 04:05

Had, ffs.

No tune for this kind of ridiculousness at all.

OtterInDisgrace · 11/12/2017 04:06

Oh my god, seriously, I despise iPad auto correct so much; it just loves to make you look like a cunt

OtterInDisgrace · 11/12/2017 04:07

Not as much of a cunt as him, though, eh?!

FlouncyDoves · 11/12/2017 05:04

They should just leave if some idiot has cemented his head into a microwave. It’s natural selection.

Traffig · 11/12/2017 08:00

I wonder if he has been using a lot of moisturiser? Wink

"Wet cement can cause caustic burns, sometimes referred to as cement burns. Cement burns may result in blisters, dead or hardened skin, or black or green skin. In severe cases, these burns may extend to the bone and cause disfiguring scars or disability"

MargaretCavendish · 11/12/2017 08:03

It's besides the point, but I'm still very confused as to what other end to this they were envisioning? What was the actual plan for how he'd get his head back out?

Traffig · 11/12/2017 08:10

He probably was waiting for the timer on the microwave to go "ding" Margaret.

sagamartha · 11/12/2017 08:10

Just out of interest:

Did the fire service actually spend extra money on this?
The fire fighters would have been paid during the day regardless.

So is the £650 coming from the petrol used? Maintenance of equipment?

He's a total idiot. Just one of many idiots on YouTube, But did it actually cost the fire service extra money?

Traffig · 11/12/2017 08:24

The job is costed out Martha. The fire appliance could have been used elsewhere. When an appliance is out of the station, the station is a crew down and a specialist vehicle short.
This has a knock on effect on the Service which deals with real life or death emergencies where delay can cost lives (as do ambulance and police)

Here is an article from West Yorkshire Fire Service which explains how costings and charges are worked out and when. It's lengthy.

Masichists have been attention seeking for years. It's a mental illnesss, so very difficult to handle. Much like arsonists who wait for the fire crews. Seeking condemnation is part of it.

I think the point is that people are deliberately doing stupid stuff for the sake of an audience these days. That's a bit different from doing something stupid when drunk, or as a result of a miscalculation - it is more deliberate. And there is a public cost to that behaviour, which we all pay.

Yes, I think a fine would be appropriate.
