I've just seen on Twitter the news about the YouTuber who put his head into a microwave & then filled it full of poly filler.. Hmm
West Midlands fire service have posted a video basically saying every time they respond to stunts like this they are obviously then not able to go to actual emergencies & this call out would have cost £650.

Aibu to think if someone does something as stupid as this they should be fined?

I've watched the YouTubers response video & whilst he says thanks to the emergency crews, I don't actually think he seems all that apologetic..

I remember a couple of years ago another you tuber threw himself off Tower Bridge for a bet & had to be rescued, he then raised quite a bit of money for the lifeboat charity as thanks.

I was talking about this with someone yesterday and saying what a shame it is that smacking is set to be outlawed because if that were my son, I’d beat him to within an inch of his life.

I don’t understand how he was able to keep breathing though in the 1.5 hours before his friends called the ambulance?

ElvisIsAliveAndLivingInHull · 09/12/2017 12:02

@needsasockamnesty

You cannot charge someone to use the emergency services because you don’t think they are very nice.

This was nothing to do with him being 'nice' or not. Whether he is a lovely man, or a cunt of the highest order; what he did was beyond stupid and pathetic, and it was extremely dangerous.

What makes it worse - and as I said earlier - is that he came across as very entitled.

Anyone who thinks they can do what they want, no matter how dangerous, because it's their RIGHT to be rescued, and the fire brigade's 'job' to do it, is a cunt. Nothing more, nothing less!

@butchyrestingface

They shoved a straw in a little hole.

Hopefully next time, there will be no straws available. Now I will definitely view THAT on his poxy bastard youtube channel!

Problem is, in this day and age, it's too easy for stupid, dense, fucking idiots to become famous, just for being cunts.

Don't think his fame will last though, as everyone thinks he's a total nobhead.

@Doris Grin

JonSnowsWife · 09/12/2017 12:08

Agree with everyone else that you can’t charge people for self inflicted situations because where would you draw the line

Well, I think cementing yourself into a microwave is a pretty reasonable place to draw the line. Confused

GunnyHighway · 09/12/2017 12:09

Yes the fuckwit should be billed.

SlothMama · 09/12/2017 12:11

I completely agree with you OP, idiots like him should have to pay for when emergency services have to come out to rescue them.

ButchyRestingFace · 09/12/2017 12:19

Just watched his pronouncements online.

He’s a first class fud.

Fire brigade should have left him with the microwave attached to his neck.

It would only have improved his appearance.

🤮

If an alcoholic/drug addict/obese/smoker was in a plane crash and landed in the middle of nowhere with (miraculously) all they needed to survive but without the issue above, they WOULD survive. Withdrawal might be hard, but they would withdraw and continue to live

Your 'would' is very misplaced there keepservingthedrinks.

I don't know about the other things you mention, but if someone is used to drinking a large amount of alcohol on a regular basis and then suddenly stops drinking it, rather than gradual reduction, they're at risk of withdrawal fits. These can and do kill people.

JustDanceAddict · 09/12/2017 12:40

Complete and utter wanker and I’m glad he’s going to donate & YouTube aren’t paying him either.

CauliflowerSqueeze · 09/12/2017 12:44

He should be made to do community service.

Utter dickhead.

PeanutButterIsEverything · 09/12/2017 12:55

What I don't understand is what the fuck he thought was going to happen, inserting his head in a microwave and surrounding his head with concrete. How did he think it was going to pan out? How was that scenario going to end in any other way than calling 999?

Utter twat.

CauliflowerSqueeze · 09/12/2017 12:56

Peanut - you’re reaching the conclusion that he thought. Silly! 😉

Babysoon · 09/12/2017 12:59

I have a family member who calls 999 for pretty much anything and everything as doesn’t want to get a cab or go to ooh so goes the ‘direct route’ 🙄
3 ambulances in the last fortnight alone

JonSnowsWife · 09/12/2017 13:18

Babysoon what does your family member have wrong with them? Do you mean the direct route to A&E?

Babysoon · 09/12/2017 13:58

Direct route to see a dr without having to travel/wait/get a taxi etc
Nothing.....it’s always something vague or that could be dealt with by ooh usually but here there’s high demand and it’s a long wait

Fluffyears · 09/12/2017 14:29

I watch a program quite regularly about the RAF having to go out an rescue fuds who climb up mountains with no climbing knowledge, no proper equipment (one walloper had flip flops on ffs!) and in inclement weather. They put the mountain rescuers in danger having to go and find the fuckers when they have no idea where they are. A bloody helicopter then has to be scrambled to search and lift. In one show they had to leave the idiots waiting as a woman in a Scottish island got into difficulty whilst in labour. THese people had the cheek to be annoyed....they should be billed due to stupidity and so should this fud. Might make him and othersvre-think their actions!!!!

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 09/12/2017 14:55

He deliberately did something really stupid to make money. Therefore he should have to pay the £650 call out from the fire service, and however much the call out costs are for the paramedics. What a shame both services weren't tied up saving people more worthy of their help and he suffocated. That would stop him passing on his shitty attitude and faulty genes. Twat.

Fluffyears · 09/12/2017 15:06

THey shoulda handed him the chip and pay n machine before starting to get him out! Children could be trapped in a fire, rta victims may need freed from a cubicle but here we are cutting an idiot out of a cement helmet!

CR7987 · 09/12/2017 15:25

Should be sectioned under the mental health act for me! What a strange thing to do!

QuestionableMouse · 11/12/2017 00:00

I used to compete in two risky sports (Showjumping and motor racing). Both can kill you but I always made sure my safety equipment was up to scratch, didn't compete above my limits and had years of experience in both sports. Most people who compete or do sport to a decent level do the same.

Not like some tosser who decides to cement his head in a kitchen appliance. What I don't get is why his friends didn't stop him! If any of my friends asked me to cement their head in a microwave, I'd tell them to piss off and stop being so thick.

MargaretCavendish · 11/12/2017 00:09

Completely agree that this guy is a prize twat but I don't want to go down the route of charging people for emergency situations where they could be held culpable. It's like the idea (which seems to get widespread support) that we should charge people who go to A&E when drunk. This would obviously result in more alcohol related deaths, probably disproportionately in young people and the homeless/very poor. That's not a price that I think any civilized society should be willing to pay to save a bit of cash.

SingaSong12 · 11/12/2017 00:25

I disagree with charges for emergency services because I think it may discourage people who should be calling but fear a charge. On a practical level it might also be expensive and probably not achieve the ends:

Someone needs to decide what actions should or should not be charged - will there be an appeal/mitigating circumstances?

Set fee -
Group 1 If the person is repentant and pays
Group 2 person is repentant but genuinely has no money
Group 3 think whole thing is a joke and won't pay
Does the emergency service spend more time and money to distinguish between 1 and 2 and then recover the debt?

Sliding scale fine - more expensive to administer because personal circumstances have to looked at, still have costs of enforcement

SingaSong12 · 11/12/2017 00:27

Sorry should be distinguish between groups 2 and 3

Traffig · 11/12/2017 00:38

What a talentless attention seeking nob.
I hope that they used the drill that really fucking vibrates and makes a lot of noise. Glad it took AGES Grin
A crew off the run who could have been somewhere else more useful.
The joys of being a public servant hey?
Angry

Traffig · 11/12/2017 00:41

^ I left the k out ... making him a "nob." Blush
I really must brush up on my spellings of dickhead
