Hi , I'm going to be a New mum and ready to do shopping for our new arrival, but I'm confused as to what's best for baby in terms of sleeping, is a crib/Moses basket or cot better. Moses basket they outgrow it quickly then you have to invest in cotbed, but don't want to be spending unnecessarily, please advise, thank you.

Sleep positioners have been declared unsafe, but the Sleepyhead isn’t seen as dangerous because it is breathable.

We used a Moses basket to begin with and that was put next to the bed/sofa and moved round the house as needed. He was in that for around 10 weeks. Moses basket was a god send. I could leave him on the landing (in his Moses basket) whilst I had a shower, if we'd had a next to me or simular, we couldn't have done that. He also had a bouncy chair to sleep in when he grew out of the Moses basket. The only downside with a swinging cot etc. Is that when they transfer to a proper cot, if they have become used to being rocked to sleep your going to have an issue getting them to sleep without the rocking.

After that we put him in a cotbed. This should hopefully stay with him till he gets a 'big bed'. We only got a cotbed as opposed to a standard cot then we didn't have to faff with buying a toddler bed, then a single bed after that. (We had plenty of space for a cotbed in our room).

We got a moses basket and a cot bed. Both kids we didnt use the moses basket for more than 6 weeks or so. I think I should have done a next to me crib.

For cot bed, we got second hand off Facebook, wiped it down, and bought a new mattress so didnt work out too expensive

The OP's child is coming up for 3 years old now so she probably found a solution!
