To not be enjoying my cats?

I’m not going to rehome them. And I do love them in a way.

But I realised this morning I get no pleasure out of them at all and to be honest I wish I’d never got them.

They demand food as soon as I get up but it’s somehow not enough. After I’ve had a shower and am trying to get ready they are mewing round my feet wanting a second breakfast Hmm

One of them miaows so loudly - a real yowl of a sound and he does it at 2/3 am for me to put him out (can’t put a cat flap in - it’s a bottom floor apartment in a listed building) and it really disturbs my sleep terribly.

The eating, they just never stop. Even when their food bowls are full every time I stand up they thunder through to the kitchen and stand over their bowls miaowing.

I feel horrible as I feel irritated by them.

Its a bit upsetting reading some of the comments, our cats do love us and need us.

I might believe that one day but mine clearly called me a cunt earlier with a death stare so probably not today!

You wondered above how you could cope with a child if you can't even cope with your cats. I just don't see it's even comparable. Cats and children are just not the same at all - our love for our children is beautiful and inevitable. They take so much from us, yet they give so much more. Don't worry about this - it's not a thing.

Mine beats me up. It's hard to stay when you get slapped for not serving food when it's demanded.

It doesn't happen very often but truly he slaps me. He bites sometimes too. .

The problem here is clear. Your title, OP, says 'your' cats.
No. "Your" implies ownership.
No one owns a cat.
"I own a cat" = oxymoron.

Seven cats deign to live with me. I am their slave. They have their own entrance. They have dried food and twice a day wet food appears - currently Gourmet Soup is in favour. Water and cat milk are always available.

Your thinking is skewed: once you realise they are the master and you the slave, your problem will, like Dreamies, disappear Wink
