How many advent calendars do your children have?
My DS has 3 which is a little excessive but hey ho, it's Christmas.
My husband thinks it's too many and he is spoilt!
AIBU or is he?

We got DS one

Then he won one at the Christmas fair today then DM got him one

He's not having 3 so the one from DM is now mine

He should only have one but as he won the second one I'm letting him keep it

I got dd's one to share (playmobil) then Dmum got them a chocolate one each. I do have a fabric one that usually I put chocolate in as they take turns getting a chocolate/playmobil. Seeing as they both now have a chocolate one I won't fill the fabric one this year. Good idea about using the molds they are the snowman ones from Thorntons so will be nice to reuse

Feeling nostalgic for the old picture ones now.

My siblings and I used to share one that our great aunt sent.

HalfPintPixie · 01/12/2017 20:28

My son actually has two advent calendars this year Blush
One is a standard paw patrol chocolate one, the other is a big felt Christmas tree I made last year with little pockets for the 'elves' to leave a wee surprise in.

Although I wouldn't put it past my mum to get him another one for her house!

My dd (8) has 3 advent calendars, one chocolate which she chose herself - superhero girls, a smiggle one and the Kellogg's cereal one which were both surprises , she is an only child though.

Trb17 · 01/12/2017 20:37

Just one. But it’s a raffle/tombola style one that I make myself with gifts and a wooden advent so bit OTT already. No need for any more Grin

WitchesHatRim · 01/12/2017 20:42

she is an only child though.

Confused not sure why whether someone has siblings or not has to do with it.

Funnyfarmer · 02/12/2017 10:18

Mine have 2. Chocolate one and dd1 has a makeup one dd2 has a playmobile one.

BakedBeans47 · 02/12/2017 10:31

The eldest has one, the youngest has 2 as he got a Lego one for his birthday.

anyoldname76 · 02/12/2017 10:36

my dc have 1 each, i bought the kinder ones, they like the chocolates but they have no picture behind each door

TooManyPaws · 02/12/2017 10:43

I have three...

Two 99p tiny pieces of chocolate ones for at home and work, and a Partylite tealight one - it's lovely having a different candle and scent each evening as I use candles a lot.

I also have an embroidered one with loops for hanging things from that I made a few years ago but it's still packed away as I don't trust my current dogs with it.

Myheartbelongsto · 02/12/2017 10:44

I have 4 kids and none of them have an advent calendar.

LemonysSnicket · 02/12/2017 10:47

I have one cheap chocolate one (although MIL still makes DPs fabric one - no GC yet- and this year shes put sweets for me in too!)
I dont think toy advents should be a thing. 25 in quick succession doesnt make them special and theyll end up in landfills like all the other excessive xmas trash.

Whichschool2020 · 02/12/2017 11:02

Mine have two each and this is the first year they’ve had two. Both have the Lindt teddy chocolate one, DD has the awful smiggle one and DS has a match attacks one. We definitely don’t do Christmas Eve boxes or December 1st boxes though (WTF?!)

VileyRose · 02/12/2017 12:02

Just a fabric one with buttons in. I think the advent is meaningless in this sense as it is.

EnglishRose13 · 02/12/2017 12:06

My 19 month old has four. One is the Toot Toot one, the others are chocolate.

I wasn’t anticipating him getting so many!

I really don't mean to be a total Scrooge, but please tell me you haven't kept 4 advent calendars for a 19 month old, who won't even understand the significance of one!

CheapSausagesAndSpam · 02/12/2017 12:58

I think it's weird that people buy them for other people's children so casually! They're a special thing to me...I remember one year, my DC being given one by a Father Christmas at a village fair and I was a bit peeved because I already had a beautiful German one for them!

Mine was a traditional one with no chocolate, just windows and a lovely Victorian illustration.
