How many advent calendars do your children have?
My DS has 3 which is a little excessive but hey ho, it's Christmas.
My husband thinks it's too many and he is spoilt!
AIBU or is he?

We have string of stockings with a chocolate in for each one of us. The DCs take it in turns to empty a stocking & hand out the chocs.

When they were younger they also had a Lego or Playmobil one each or similar. Then I switched to a shoebox of mini gifts like pencils, badges, stickers in their early teens.

m0therofdragons · 01/12/2017 12:13

Mn told me I was tight as we had 1 between 3 dc. My brother and I always shared one until teenage years so it didn't occur to me they'd need one each and wasn't an issue for them. They now have one each but I still think that's unnecessary but I'm going with the flow as dh bought me my own one too 😂

Footle · 01/12/2017 12:14

Grandchildren have a Lego one between three of them. They each open a door every third day , ie 8 doors each.

Katedotness1963 · 01/12/2017 12:20

My boys are teenagers and got a Lindt chocolate calendar each this morning. When they were little they got a chocolate one and a Lego one. We never had them as kids, I grew up thinking advent calendars and Christmas stockings were just something they had in books/tv, I didn't know they were a real thing.

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 01/12/2017 12:28

DS has 2 this year but only because one was free! I bought him the Match Attax one (it'll count as one of his Xmas presents as was quite expensive) and I got a chocolate one from work which I have given to him too. Actually, thinking about it, he may have one at his dad's house too, haven't checked! Blush
3 does seem excessive but if people are buying them for him, I guess you don't have a lot of say in it.

RedForFilth · 01/12/2017 12:30

My son has two. One at mine and one at his dad's. I don't think that makes him spoiled at all tbh.

FizzyGreenWater · 01/12/2017 12:33

One each because we do a guess the picture competition.

No choc though!

TiklyBooYack · 01/12/2017 12:43

One. Nut allergy so a Kinnerton one.

Pyjamaface · 01/12/2017 12:43

Ermmm DS has 5 Blush

A Haribo one, some fabric mittens that we'll pop a pencil/rubber/notepad in and a felt one that you add the decorations to the tree.

DM bought him 2. A cereal one and then she felt bad and got him a chocolate one as well.

It's ridiculous really but hey ho, it christmas

TiredMumToTwo · 01/12/2017 12:46

Shit like this makes me laugh, as a kid my brother & I shared one, no chocolates just pictures & in Christmas Day my Mum would close all the doors ready for next year!!

Peachypie83 · 01/12/2017 12:47

Mine has one chocolate one and one picture one which you add to each day to build a scene

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 01/12/2017 12:50

Mine have 3 - a lego one, a choc one and a homemade one with a mixture of activities/treats and jobs to do around the house.

I have a gin one and a the soho one.

Dh has a very expensive whiskey one.

ChippyMinton · 01/12/2017 12:51

Three shared between 3 of them, which we've had since they were little.
A set of little houses that I fill with a chocolate each per day - lindor, coins, santas etc.
A playmobil one, from the days when they came in reusable little numbered boxes.
A fabric tree with a tiny decoration to hang each day.

Oh and a Father Christmas figurine with countdown blocks.

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 01/12/2017 12:51

Sorry the soho cowshed one.

Jedbartletforpresident · 01/12/2017 12:52

I'm actually more amazed at how you all find the time to open the bloody things!!!! Please tell me you don't open all 3/4/5 before school runs?!

DextersCat · 01/12/2017 12:53

One family one with Christmas activities, days out, Xmas movies, foods etc written on a piece of paper.

Advent chocolate is cheap and nasty.

cherrycola2004 · 01/12/2017 13:01

I'm 34 and somehow have 2.... my mum bought me one Hmm and my DPs SIL gave me a "diabetic" one ... so won't eat those chicks, straight in the bin!

cherrycola2004 · 01/12/2017 13:02

Chocs not chicks Shock

spiderlight · 01/12/2017 13:03

Accidentally three. My friend sent him a Lego Star Wars one (instread of a Christmas present), MIL got him a chocolate one and I made up one of the fabric pocket ones with mini Pokemon figures.

Alicadabra · 01/12/2017 13:14

Mine have one that they share - and we re-use the same one every year! But it is rather fabulous: it's a beautifully made wooden one with 24 little cupboards and a stable scene on top. Behind each door is a character or prop for the nativity scene (e.g. a shepherd, a goat, a star, a donkey, an angel etc) so over the 24 days the nativity scene is gradually created.

My kids absolutely love it (though I did get a bit of a telling off this morning for putting one of the angels behind door #1, apparently it should have been a sheep!)

WhyamIBoredathome · 01/12/2017 13:20

One each, just pics no chocolates. They are only 3 and 1 though.

Ecureuil · 01/12/2017 13:27

One each, that my dad bought for them. They’re 4 and 2

queenofthemountains · 01/12/2017 13:30

As a family we have a play people scene that is reused every year. A string of knitted pockets where a father Christmas gets moved on each day again used every year and the kids have a chocolate one each.

MirandaWest · 01/12/2017 13:32

I had quite a few when I was little - couple of chocolate ones and some picture ones given by different people.

There are many advent calendars in our house. Some are things like playmobil and Lego reused from previous years. We like bringing them out again 😊

And then there's some chocolate ones and picture ones. And DD and I have a beauty one each, DH has a tea one and DS has a cereal one.

SparklingSnowfall · 01/12/2017 13:33

1.5 Grin they have a chocolate one each and the Happyland one to share
