How many advent calendars do your children have?
My DS has 3 which is a little excessive but hey ho, it's Christmas.
My husband thinks it's too many and he is spoilt!
AIBU or is he?

Alicadabra we had an angel behind our first door this morning too - clearly it's Gabriel who appeared to both Mary and Joseph before any sheep appeared in the story! You're right! Sheep come later! (Day 7 for us - we need to get Mary & Joseph, couple of donkeys and a campfire out first!)

MissDuke · 01/12/2017 13:45

I bought dh and the kids one chocolate one each. Ds got another one at a birthday party and insisted on giving it to me as he says he only needs one. Dd1 also got a makeup one today for her birthday.

OhHolyFuck · 01/12/2017 14:05

One each, a fabric one that I fill, not necessarily with 'tat' - Today they got new pikachu gloves each

WitchesHatRim · 01/12/2017 14:06

I'm with your DH. 3 is a bit much imo.

PinkyBlunder · 01/12/2017 14:15

One. I don’t understand why you’d need more than that....

My DD really wanted a picture one but I couldn’t find a really nice one so o bought her a really nice chocolate one. Last year and 2 years ago, I did a book advent which went down a treat both times.

stargirl1701 · 01/12/2017 16:04

I do book Advent calendars for my children. MIL bought a wooden Advent calendar and fills it with Jelly Tots each year.

I have a Grimms Advent Spiral with candles to light during dinner throughout Advent. That's mine though!

We do Mary's star path each year.

DoggyMadMum
We were exctly the same. One picture advent between 3 children.
We were excited over who would get 1st dec. My brother always offered as he worked out it meant he would get xmas eve to open. I fell for it every year

allegretto · 01/12/2017 16:07

One chocolate one and one paper one between 3 kids.

allegretto · 01/12/2017 16:07

So 2/3 each. Grin

chocatoo · 01/12/2017 16:13

Umm I don't approve of myself but I gave teenage DD a chocolate one and a make up one (couldn't resist!)...I then spotted a Kelloggs cereals one which I also bought...

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 01/12/2017 16:39

A Kelloggs one??

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 01/12/2017 16:50

They're really lovely, stargirl

unhingedtoday · 01/12/2017 18:34

Ok IABU
We don't go in for the whole elf, toy calendars, Xmas eve box etc
Never mind, I suppose it really doesn't matter, each to their own and all that

One per child. If we get any extras (from grandparents etc) I put them in the food bank box

CheeseAndBeans · 01/12/2017 18:46

1 chocolate one each here. Last year DM and DMIL bought them one each too so they ended up with 3, was too much!
Me and DH have one each too. I have the Lidt one, it's taking every bit of willpower I have not to go and raid it!!

EmilyChambers79 · 01/12/2017 18:51

DS has two.

We get him the star wars one each year and Stepmom gets him a Thornton's one every year. My Dad used to buy us all our advent calenders and my Stepmum carried on when he died.

stoneagemum · 01/12/2017 18:52

For the first year ever my ds(17) has 2. The usual chocolate one, then I spotted the Kellogg's cereal one and couldn't resist. His face was a picture, best xmas buy in ages

Lollyb86 · 01/12/2017 18:56

I bought my DD 4 one choc one. Her uncle gave her a playmobil one. She has one at Nannys and then 2 of Nannys friends have also bought her one each.. .Shock I may have to help her Grin

Mine have 4 each. One has Peppa Pig toys, the other one has Happyland toys which were bought by my Dad who also got them a chocolate one. My mum bought them a chocolate one (they aren’t together) and my brother bought them a chocolate one. I can’t get too worked up about it but it is excessive. We have a refillable advent calendar which is gorgeous but I’m not using this year because they already have so much.

drspouse · 01/12/2017 19:42

One between them. It is a reusable one and has no gifts. I am officially the meanest mum ever.

drspouse · 01/12/2017 19:43

(I only have 2 DCs and one doesn't yet read numbers. Or know how to count, actually).

BikeRunSki · 01/12/2017 19:44

1 each. DM says they are spoilt because they'e chocolate rather than pictures. I have tried to explain that chocolate is very understated for ACs these days,

chocatoo · 01/12/2017 19:53

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar the kelloggs one looks like 3 variety packs slipped into a cardboard sleeve with doors in - you have to take the variety pack out and extract the pack that you are instructed when you open the door - it's a bit naff really but will encourage DD to eat cereals for breakfast instead of toast. It's a bit of fun. Cocopops this morning - prob less healthy than toast ha ha but looked yummy!
Now this is really sad: I have purchased a discounted one today to tuck away for next year. Bet I won't be able to find it...

Ellybellyboo · 01/12/2017 20:07

They have 1 each. I made them years ago and fill them with chocolate coins

They have had a couple each in the past. We’d bought them 1 each, then my Gran sent them one each. I can’t say I got particularly worked up about 2 small pieces of chocolate a day
