Missing parcels

In the last month, parcels from Next (2), Asos and Zara have all gone missing - supposedly delivered to my house, but no cards left, no knocks on the door.

The Asos and Zara parcels were both handled by Hermes. Does anyone know who delivers for Next? The tracking info didn't say.

Hermes is used by a lot of retailers, just depends on the shipping speed and your location. You might unexpectedly end up with Hermes as a courier as retailers can change the shipping method last minute, and Hermes is cheap and has a wide reach so they are a popular option

At the very least Hermes tracking should show that the item wasn’t signed for or was ‘left’ somewhere so the retailers can refund/replace? Extremely inconvenient but I hope you’re not out of pocket

Might be worth complaining to your local Hermes depot and ask them to only deliver directly to a member of your household as your parcels are being stolen from this ‘safe place’. I’m sure they would oblige as the company has to pay out for lost/stolen parcels

I don't believe they are delivering to me at all. I live at - let's say - Royal Road. There is also a Royal Avenue, a Royal Lane and a Royal Gardens Road within a few miles.

I have been refunded each time, but I really wanted the items themselves (some of which sold out so i couldn't re-order).

Just order to a local shop
Pick up once a week problem solved ?

It's usually cheaper to do this aswell.

Killerfiller · 30/11/2017 23:23

Collection point not the retailers shop.

Local hermes man for us has changed and delivered parcel to 48 not 84. Fortunately these people were honest and brought us our parcel!

Chrys2017 · 30/11/2017 23:36

StatueInTheSky According to the chat, the driver was on my road but not at my building... yet he somehow claimed to have left two cards! (there were no cards and I was in all day)
I wanted further explanation but have to wait 24 hours.

Asda use Hermes (George).
So do Morphy Richards (on Ebay at any rate).

I don't mind Hermes because our delivery guy is very good. In fact as I also get to take in parcels for most of the neighbours, the only one I don't rate is DPD who bring me things for the neighbours of the people with our house no. in another street.

It really is down to the the delivery person, it looks as if you have a wrong un.

bruffin · 01/12/2017 00:04

Really surprised DpD is supposed to be good. I had a text to say sorry we missed you, when i had been in all along. There was a photo of my front door, except it was a door down the road. I had paid extra for a saturday delivery and would not be in monday when wanted to deliver again.
It was impossible to speak to a human being to sort out. The phone company had to ring them and i finally got my phone 3 hours later and no apology at all from the courier.
None of these companies give you number to call and DPD is as bad as Hermes in my experience.

Gotthetshirt23 · 01/12/2017 00:32

Sorry but I've had "signed for" Royal Mail items simply left over the garden gate . Only a short wooden gate visible from the road . Whose signature is on that I wonder ......

whoareyou123 · 01/12/2017 08:04

DPD is reliable for us, and Next is a women in a normal car though we usually have delivered to store.

I notice Hermes are now delivering to 'Parcelshops' (newsagents, dry cleaners, cornershops, etc). Don't know if this is a option for you and whether it is any more reliable.

RJnomore1 · 01/12/2017 08:07

@Storminateacup the m n s advents are back in stock so worth chasing now.

Our local Hermes guy is great. I think it depends on who you get though the company itself is rubbish. I like dpd because you get a 1 hour slot.

whoareyou123 · 01/12/2017 08:22

Pinkpowerofthought parcel force left a parcel containing a laptop in my recycling bin this week. Bin was behind a gate which was unlocked as window cleaners were due.

Toddlerteaplease · 01/12/2017 08:38

Love DPD. Currently waiting for a parcel from eBay, that I think is coming via Hermes. I'm on nights, so will definitely be in today. So I'll see what happens!

Sahara123 · 01/12/2017 09:00

Add Dunelm to the list ...... discovered yesterday reason for my missing parcel is that delivery was in two packages, they only left me one. Must have discovered this back at the depot so kindly sent it back to Dunelm for me ! Had a really annoying online chat with someone who very helpfully kept telling me my “return “ was being processed! How could I return something I’ve never received?!

Sahara123 · 01/12/2017 09:03

Should have said it was Hermes....
