To not see the big deal with wearing fur

If it's vintage then you aren't really supporting an industry or creating demand for new fur garments.

Some of the comments against Alexandra have been pretty vile. I have an old piano that has ivory, but it's second hand and surely it's better that it's used after being made than just thrown away?

" I've seen the wide eyed fear in a trapped tethered cow who had its neck cut (no stun gun used)".

Isn't this how most meat animals are killed in order to satisfy Halal requirements??

Downtheroad - the clip of the cow was from a non-Halal UK slaughterhouse. I was shocked as I'd always believed our slaughterhouses would use a stun gun first.

Increased standards in slaughterhouses are one thing well worth campaigning for. Non stun methods should not be allowed - another example of where religious ‘needs’ impinge on rights imho.
There is work done on more humane slaughter methods - how animals are channelled through (seeing and smelling as little as possible) is important, to reduce fear for example.

I think people don’t like to think about where their meat come from. I have a couple of friends here who hunt, for example, and have got a bit of abuse for it. Is it really worse to shoot dead a moose that’s had a nice life in a Finnish forest than it is to eat danish pork raised via stall and tether? I don’t think so.

For those who believe that fur is wrong and sick under absolutely any circumstances, no exceptions, I wonder if you’d be so kind as to pop up to Canada/Alaska and tell all the First Nation Peoples that they should stop immediately?

I don’t believe fur is a necessity in our climate, nor do I believe fur farms should be allowed to continue. But ethically sourced, appropriately hunted fur? I can’t see why not. Seems like a waste to kill something to eat and throw the hide away.
