Aibu to ask you where you would live with my £20 million budget?

So I've got 20 million in (imaginary) pounds. Where would you live for this and in what? I'm only after one home as I find having a home in each continent discombobulating.

In reality, I'd probably buy a house where I live now, but for pure property porn purposes, I'd move to London and buy this rather lovely house in Hampstead Garden Suburb, with over £10 million change.

I would buy several properties in my favourite places. One in London, Edinburgh, the Gower, New York and somewhere hot!

We live in Dorset and I'd buy the house we are in or one nearby.

However, for the sake of a bit of property porn, here is one from Sandbanks or Millionaires Row as it's known locally (a few miles from us), one of the most desirable and expensive places to live in the UK. The views are stunning.

That one is actually quite reasonable. If I only had a few million to spare.

Somewhere very close to the sea around St Davids in North Pembrokeshire.
Or in Corfu with direct beach access. We passed a stunning house on holiday there.

I would buy a place a bit closer in to London than I am now and with nounproject a little condo in Whistler and another one near Marbella.
Don't want anything with too much and as I will just want to look up and leave and just flit between the three.

SisyphusHadItEasy · 28/11/2017 19:31

I would buy a nice piece of property and design a modest house. On the property, I would add 3 other small houses for my DCs.

Once they moved on, I would use the small houses to teach individuals with developmental disabilities independent living skills.

That should only take about 2 million, so the other 18 I would use to develop and maintain the program where those houses would be used for their intended purpose long term.

And I would buy a horse.

I would definitely buy land and build my own little Rivendell. Probably in New Zealand or, failing that, I'd go back to the Highlands. How could I fail to be inspired there? DH wants a private cinema room. He can have it underground along with all his other tat. Hehe

IslingtonLou · 28/11/2017 19:37

Boring but I would definitely settle in London, feels like you need that much to get a decent property anywayBlush

Floellabumbags · 28/11/2017 19:39

I'd need somewhere warm in summer with a private beach. In winter it has to snow. An indoor pool would be a must. I'd have to have privacy but be near to a good city. Mostly I want a space for a fucking enormous christmas tree and cashmere loungewear.
