I do SS every year but tbh I might not next year, I hate the stress of buying for people I work with, even though I know them really well. Never know if I have the right balance of funny and useful.

I wouldn’t have said what you did OP though as it just adds more stress to the person buying and will more than likely force them to go over budget to get something ‘naice’.
