To be repulsed by husbands teeth!

I always look at peoples teeth, can't help it. I love a nice smile and have my own teeth shortened regularly and always get complements on them. First thing I noticed about my husband years ago was his great smile and lovely teeth. Now years later my husband teeth are in a state. He has weak gums and the top couple were moving outwards, he ended up going dentist and got them taken out and false teeth out in. Tried to be supportive and never let on it was an issue (never seen him with the teeth out) Anway he looked and felt a lot better, now two years on his two bottom teeth have moved and are starting to stick out, I've said about going back to dentist to get it sorted and he keeps saying he will but hasn't. It's very noticeable to everyone now and I'll admit embarrassed by them, I just think every one notices your teeth the first time they see you. I hate looking at him because all I see is his teeth. He afraid to go because he knows they'll be pulled but he will look so much better if they were. Fully expecting everyone to tell me how fickle I am and if I loved him it shouldn't bother me. I do love him but it does bother me. AIBU?

I feel sorry for your DH

Totally with the OP on this, people seemed to have not realised that his teeth are moving because of gum disease. He needs a check up fgs!

Why has not tried to improve his dental hygiene? Did the dentist just pull out his teeth and send him on his way without further treatment or check ups? I just can't imagine that after having to have teeth pulled because of lack of care, I would allow the deterioration to carry on and to lose even more teeth.

Untreated gum disease can have all sorts of pretty bad side effects, including heart disease.

A dentist isn't a miracle worker, he did his teeth and made appointment but husband didn't follow up appointment and that
was end of that! Dentist hardly came knocking on our door for follow up.

Right, so you’ve clarified that it’s serious gum disease due to poor oral hygiene and that DH is not managing this or seeing the dentist. YANBU to be worried and annoyed with DH for not taking it seriously or seeking help from the dental professionals.

Here hung those lips that I have kissed I know not how oft. —Where be your gibes now? Your gambols? Your songs? Your flashes of merriment that were wont to set the table on a roar? Not one now to mock your own grinning? Quite chapfallen? Now get you to my lady’s chamber and tell her, let her paint an inch thick, to this favour she must come. Make her laugh at that.

If that’s Shakespeare, for some reason suspect he would’ve agreed with the OP on dental matters!
