its my daughters 14th in a couple of weeks and she wants the obligatory ipad for her birthday. i managed to get one and it was delivered yesterday and hubby took the box as i was at work. he the left to go to an appointment and left it there until daughter got home from school. it had a label on the box on several places saying rose gold ipad so she now knows exactly what she is getting. i know shes not a baby but we had the excitement going as to whether she would get it as money not great at the moment so cant get her anything else. he got back from hospital around midday so had plenty of tme to hide it. he is actually shouting at me because im upset with him. dd going out to sleepover tonight and im furious!!! am i overreacting??

Cantspell2 I am so sorry, it does put things in perspective.

Temporary2002 · 27/11/2017 01:23

I would be a little annoyed but would let go of it after a few minutes. Fact is, your daughter will still be thrilled and is most likely really looking forward to her birthday knowing what awaits her. The anticipation is a lot of fun too. Probably counting down the days!

I'm sorry you've had to go through what I and many others have, cant and I know only too well how much you're hurting, but that doesn't mean other people aren't permitted to be upset at something a thoughtless partner does. I hope you and your poor daughter are getting plenty of support.

Well there you go OP, my DH did it again last night, told DD what I was planning to buy her for Christmas. He only knows because of an unusual set of circumstances this year, normally I tell him nothing.

I can't even be bothered to be annoyed any more, just disappointed.

Gemini69 · 27/11/2017 13:17

aren't people allowed to SURPRISE their children anymore FFS....Hmm it's her Birthday.. it's Christmas... people are allowed to surprise their Kids right ... OP is right to be pissed off... Flowers

TalkinBoutWhat · 27/11/2017 13:23

Hmm, YANBU to be a bit annoyed, but YABU to be furious. Not everyone gets all overjoyed about 'surprises' at Christmas. Some do, some don't.

Coloursthatweremyjoy · 27/11/2017 13:33

My husband did this OP. Only he left DS birthday present in the boot of his car. (it was something we had said he wouldn't be getting but then we had a change of heart). Then he collects DS from school, opens the boot for DS to out his bag in and it was right there!

Can't say I'm furious...more of a head slap moment. Sure the surprise is spoiled but DS is still excited. Just in a different way.

Cockmagic · 27/11/2017 13:38

First world problem really, get a grip!

Isadora2007 · 27/11/2017 13:41

OP. Move on from it and be the bigger person.
How about you surprise your dd with it early? Like her EDD if she was late, or at a weekend soon or something? Take back control and if the surprise element was what upset you you can still give her a surprise... think outside the box.
But move on from what your dh did as we are all human and make mistakes.

Rachie1973 · 27/11/2017 13:43

All a massive over reaction.

DD will spend the night at the sleepover bragging about the present she's still excited about getting.

Just seems such a small thing to be 'furious' about.

PositivelyPERF · 27/11/2017 14:02

Thankfully cock you don't get a say in what people should be upset about. Feel free to sell all your first world technology and help out those you deem worthy enough to have 'real' problems.

Cockmagic · 27/11/2017 14:13

I don't see the problem

She wanted an I pad she got one..

Gemini69 · 27/11/2017 14:55

if it's any consolation OP the Rose Gold IPad... is beautiful she will love it.... it's the one I have... Flowers
