to let you know how men use the Equality Act to undermine women's spaces

This is Liam. Liam was a 17-year-old Harry Potter fan (photo here from his Twitter).

twitter.com/iamLilyTM/status/639376063655739392

Liam doesn't appear to have too much interest in running, but nonetheless got very upset that there are women-only runs, in addition to the thousands that are open to men.

He thinks this is similar to apartheid, or Rosa Parks being told to go to the back of the bus. twitter.com/iamLilyTM/status/637324189733666816 (August 2015)

Being kept out annoys Liam. (And a lot of other MRAs alike who get REALLY angry at not being allowed to join, despite their being literally thousands of other places to run.)

But wait! An idea! If Liam says he is a girl, he will be able to go wherever he likes including all those women-only runs he was so cruelly rebuffed from.

After all, at one time the Race for Life was able to be kept relatively man-free, as Cancer Research said:

<a class="break-all" href="https://web.archive.org/web/20120528181520/raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/utilities/faqs/who-can-enter/index.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">web.archive.org/web/20120528181520/raceforlife.cancerresearchuk.org/utilities/faqs/who-can-enter/index.html

"Under the Gender Recognition Act 2004 we are happy to accept entries from individuals who possess a female birth certificate or gender recognition certificate. However, as Race for Life is a female-only event we have a promise and responsibility to our female supporters to ensure our Race for Life events are represented by women only. Therefore, if you do not have either a gender recognition certificate or a female birth certificate, we are afraid you will not be able to participate in Race for Life. "

But this didn't last long! The Equality Act 2010 came along and it said

"A person has the protected characteristic of gender reassignment if the person is proposing to undergo, is undergoing or has undergone a process [of changing gender]". So anyone who is even THINKING about changing gender is protected, and you better be careful about crossing them.

So Raceforlife quickly deleted the requirement for a GRC, and just to confirm this.

twitter.com/CharlotteMedler/status/604486954785357824

"Hey @raceforlife what is your opinion on pre-op women running? Does having a wang mean I can't do it? Let me know, pls."

The reply:
"hello, transgender women are welcome to take part in our events, so we'd love to have you :)"

Message has got through loud and clear to Liam, a few months later Liam says he is a girl called Lily (this declaration isn't really accompanied by any action, though he has had one Gender clinic appointment, where he got some handouts about hormones).

He tells his school. Some people, including his younger sister, are unhappy about his behaviour.

But not to worry, he looks up 'solicitor' on Google, and finds a firm of solicitor who represent teenage Harry Potter fans wanting access to women & girls spaces, completely for free! www.buzzfeed.com/patrickstrudwick/this-trans-teen-threatened-her-school-with-legal-action-to-w Awesome! Free lawyers!Totally no consequences!

Emboldened, he moves on, with his MRA activity, getting a woman kicked kicked out of a neighbouring constituency Labour party:

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5087503/All-Labour-officials-local-committee-resign.html

Then he's elected women's officer in his own CLP.

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/trans-teenager-lily-madigan-voted-in-as-a-labour-women-s-officer-mwchkhzq8

Then people point out that he seems to own a Twitter account with blowjob, rape, Jimmy Savile & curry jokes. He says it's fake then it's pointed out it's dated 2013 so unlikely to be, and finally he blames his younger brother for the acocunt and says his family is racist, sexist and homophobic and that's why he has moved on from them.

www.kentlive.news/news/kent-news/transgender-labour-womens-officer-rochester-817234

Said brother is not impressed and calls him out publicly for throwing him under the bus

Lily/Liam is a big fan of Jeremy Corbyn, who for his own part has said that, as a genuine 100% authentic transwoman, Lily/Liam can do whatever he wants. www.facebook.com/MedwayLabour/posts/1506650112756340

As if all these weren't enough, he's now being sponsored for a Women in Leadership programme in by Tris Osborne, a (male, natch) Labour candidate in Luton. twitter.com/cllrtrisosborne/status/934368405993508864

Rosa Parks eat your heart out eh? Look who's got the last laugh now! Silly women wanting a race without men in it!

Women outnumber men in most countries Nationalist, so how can we be a minority?

Gaolbird · 26/11/2017 08:09

The people who excluded women would argue they also needed a safe space
What from? Nagging? Your argument is crap.

As women we can identify as male and take part in men’s activities too - It goes both ways.

I really don't think it does. As women, we are oppressed due to our bodies, our female appearance. If we were to claim to identify as men, men would not accept us because we would still be women to them. We would be the same or lower status as when we identified as women. However, a man who claims to be a woman has had male privilege all his life and now is elevated into a position that is still higher than women. Especially if he does not have to undergo any of the humiliation and pain of having surgery or actually live through any female experiences.

The trans agenda benefits men, nobody else really.

LizzieSiddal · 26/11/2017 08:14

You can’t argue with stupid.

Honestly, it must be very sad to be so utterly thick.

The men in those boats haven’t exactly covered themselves in glory either.

And the reason are women are serving submarines isn’t only about gender equality. We are also desperately short of submariner engineers so why don’t you k and start encouraging all your male relatives etc to do their duty and serve their country.

And don’t sneer at women willing to put their lives on the line for their country. They deserve the same amount of respect as the men do. Probably more so as I am sure it can’t have been easy going to work on a submarine as a female. Having been in a similar position, often the men aren’t particularly welcoming.

Lancelottie · 26/11/2017 08:17

That last line of yours, Bluebells - I think the girls I know who have now declared themselves trans boys DO see a benefit in it. It gives them a chance to sidestep all the usual policing of appearance.

:-D

Way to lighten the mood national! Loving your work!

howdoyoudecide · 26/11/2017 08:45

Moral isn’t low because the person sat next to them in the mess is a woman. Moral is low because of nine month deployments, because of a lack of decent runs ashore in decent ports, because of back to back sea jobs, because of money!, because we have no resources, because the pay structure has changed and some people actually got a pay cut effectively. The pensions have been raided and they aren’t half as good as they used to be, the food charges in the shore establishments are ridiculous and be cost is always going up and the quality is poor, shore establishment that aren’t heated wel in the winter and boilers constantly breaking, classrooms in rusty containers in car parks that are disintegrating around their ears. I could go on. It has NOTHING to do with working next to a woman!

howdoyoudecide · 26/11/2017 08:47

And recruiting for submarines is hard these days because young boys and girls can’t stand the idea of not being able to use social media at sea!

sagamartha · 26/11/2017 08:47

I hope the Lily lot do get what they want, actually. I hope they do very much attract the attention of straight men. I very much doubt it'll be in the form they want or expect though. I think they'll get kicked to fuck, and it will serve them right. Give it time

Really Hmm

FlaviaAlbia · 26/11/2017 08:52

Ignore the tool and pretend he's not there. It's so frustrating when good threats get derailed by men making it all about themselves.

I somehow don't think Lily will be doing the run now. They've other areas they can force their way into now and knowing women object but will be branded bigots for it must be icing on the cake for them.

Bedsettee · 26/11/2017 08:53

This thread has gone bonkers.

FlaviaAlbia · 26/11/2017 08:53

Threads, not threats Grin

makeourfuture · 26/11/2017 08:53

I can imagine submarine duty is difficult.

sagamartha · 26/11/2017 08:54

Not sure about the teaching union, but the trans activists have been wanting in on Reclaim The Night for years.Women on a protest march about rape were lectured about cis privilege by men. www.thefword.org.uk/2010/10/why_cis_attende/"trans women are many, many times more likely to be raped, killed or discriminated against on the basis of their gender than cis women"This is false of course, there are vanishingly few cases of murder of trans people in the UK.They were lectured about their 'problematic past' for opposing prostitution and not wanting men in a women's space

Why can't a transwoman go on a Reclaim the Night March? Either in support of women as well as the issues about transwomen and male violence?

Oh - and as usual you are are gaslighting people about numbers. The reason that few transwomen are murdered is because there aren't many transwomen.

Transwomen are still at risk from male violence on the streets at night and are susceptible to the same violence that women face.
