To want a man who makes me feel loved and special?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not abused or badly treated and there are plenty far worse off, however am I unrealistic and perhaps old fashioned to want to feel special and loved? I just want the odd compliment or flowers perhaps, I feel like a wife and that's it really but perhaps that's how it becomes after years of marriage? I'd really love to feel adored and valued, aibu?

YANBU, what does your husband say when you raise it with him?

What does he say when you tell him you feel taken for granted?

Very easy to fall into that trap as well. Needs a good poke when it happens.

He tells me he loves me and that he tries his best. As time goes on I do wonder if he is a little further along on the spectrum than most. As I said he isn't awful to be or anything but I really do yearn for more and wish I felt more loved and special.

You could be me! We had a serious chat. He promised he understood where I was coming from. We went out last night and this is how it went. I bought him chocolates (not amazing ones but the ones he likes) he forgot to leave work on time to collect me. I made myself up and asked him to put on a shirt but apparently a t shirt was fine. Home by 9. Went to be alone. Had to go get him to stop snoring so loudly on the sofa at 2.30am. And now he's staring at me having just gotten up asking what my problem is! Special as spam springs to mind!

It might help if you specify exactly what you want from him, and perhaps you should ask yourself what you do to make him feel loved and special. I have to say most people do not show appreciation regularly.
