To kick everyone on this bus who cheered?

So I'm sat on a very full bus and there was a lady with a young toddler in a pram. I can see where you think this is going... but no, not a bus/wheelchair debate, don't worry.

So the toddler was clearly upset at something and was crying and groaning. The mum was talking to her, pulling faces, rocking the pushchair (as best you can when the safety lock is on) to settle the toddler. Tbf, she looked knackered and at her wits end. When she pressed the bell to get off people cheered. As she was pushing the pram down he aisle one man yelled "thank god! Keep them indoors if you can't control them".
She looked so hurt!
I was raging! The poor woman was trying her best and it was a toddler for god's sake!!
I sort of said loudly and generally for them to pack it in but was drowned out by the cheers and giggles from everyone.
I'm still annoyed!

@Bahhhhhumbug Don't believe this either—who would leave their phone behind when they went into a train loo?

PricillaQueenOfTheDesert · 24/11/2017 18:42

Cheers from the whole bus? Really? I doubt it.

Hmmm....

People are arseholes.

I have been on the receiving end of behaviour like this myself and it is not nice (not for crying child but my son who is special needs and moo's like a cow)

I would have appreciate someone trying to stick up for me among the idiots though!

Maybe the op uses the bus everyday?
Before I had a car I used the bus twice a day. I could easily have had a story everyday about the goings on. Hardly great troll material Confused

Well clearly, there’s a serious lack of fascinating bus action in my area.

Lules · 24/11/2017 18:53

Last time I got the bus with a screaming toddler (in rush hour, in London) as I was getting him home from nursery 2 people tried their best to entertain him and plenty of others gave me sympathetic looks. But I guess it must be different where you live.

morningtoncrescent62 · 24/11/2017 18:54

I think I'll try to get a community sing-song going on my bus home tonight. Anything by the Proclaimers normally goes down well in my neck of the woods, I might give 500 miles a try and see if the community spirit on OP's bus will prevail.

That would happen on no bus up here. There's always grandmotherly type ready to distract them.

MissEliza · 24/11/2017 18:59

I remember being in the queue at an Asda checkout when dd was two. She was fed up waiting, wriggling, whining etc. The woman in front of me had a tiny sleepy baby and was chatting away to the lady at the till (ie taking her time). As she finally moved away, she pointed at dd and said 'good luck with that one!' I was so hurt that another mum could be so judgemental. The Asda lady laughed. My DM said I should have told her to fuck off but hindsight is 20/20.

expatinscotland · 24/11/2017 19:01

Kick 'em next time. That would cool to see someone get arrested on a bus.

Hmm
Agustarella · 24/11/2017 19:10

I should add that I was once shouted at by a horrid bus driver for having a crying baby, and had to get off a mile or two early because I was so embarrassed. I got nothing but supportive looks and comments from the old ladies sitting nearby. So I guess you never can tell.
