To wonder what, if anything, goes through people's heads?

On my street we all have a drive and a section of grass out the front. Generally anyone can park on the grass. So why has someone parked in front of my drive blocking me in?

Bwahahahahahaha at FUCKING CAR.

Maybe they don't want to trample the grass?

wasonthelist · 23/11/2017 14:21

Yanbu no idea what some people are using in place of a brain

BatteredBreadedOrSouthernFried · 23/11/2017 14:21

Do you know who it is? Go round all the doors knocking. Do you have. Dropped curb? If so they have parked illegally. When you find them, tell them you will be reporting them to the police if it happens again. If you don’t find them, leave a note saying the same.

Domani · 23/11/2017 14:27

Why are some people so thick? Should they even be driving? So how do they think you are going to get out, by airlift? How long has it been there OP?

YouCantArgueWithStupid · 23/11/2017 14:31

Fucking car 😂

Carley27 · 23/11/2017 14:34

Parking there possibly got them a metre closer to their destination?

Decemberqueen · 23/11/2017 14:37

Do you live near a school? I get jaw-dropping, sometimes dangerous examples of shit parking round here during school run. I don't live on the school's road but a few streets away.

MagicMoneyTree · 23/11/2017 14:46

I wouldn’t waste my time and energy knocking on doors and threatening to report the owner- I’d just report them. Although saying that I’m not sure who you report them to?! The council? Police? Private car clamping company?! I’d spend my time finding that out anyway and making sure they were inconvenienced with a clamp or parking fine for being such an inconsiderate arsehole.

Scottishlassie81 · 23/11/2017 14:46

it is illegal for them to block you from a public road. So you can call the police if you don't find the owner. It isn't illegal (annoyingly) for them to block you out of your drive!

I recently moved from a flat to a house with a drive and I did my googling. So far, I've not had an issue (fingers crossed).

Can you park over your own drive a few times to make a point or put bins etc in that area?

IslingtonLou · 23/11/2017 14:49

Definitely leave them an arsey note

cordeliavorkosigan · 23/11/2017 14:55

call the council and have them towed!
love your diagram and labelling Grin

StealthNinjaMum · 23/11/2017 14:59

YABU for not putting 'PARKING THREAD: WITH DIAGRAM' in the title. I could have missed it!

Great diagram and 5* for use of colourful language. I am sorry you have been blocked in but I love a good parking thread so, so much

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/11/2017 15:02

Nope. I can hear the pea brain rattling in their head from here.

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/11/2017 15:03

And I agree with stealth. You need to report your post to mumsnet to get the title amended. Wink

Lenl · 23/11/2017 15:32

Not near a school so there isn't even that reason. There are plenty of other grassless spaces too if someone didn't want to go on the grass. I suspect it's my next door neighbours - the adjoining house wouldn't do something like this but the other side might. I knocked on their door but they didn't answer. Though they never do. It took 6 months to negotiate removal of a 60ft tree in their garden that blocked the light in ours all day.

Anyway not an especially exciting outcome. I waited 20 mins (don't know how long they'd been there) then my nice neighbours moved their car so I could manoeuvre onto their drive and get out.

I think it's not just lack of brain cells/idiocy but a general selfishness. I see people all the time who aren't deliberately trying to be selfish but are just so far up their own arses they can't actually see how self absorbed their behaviour is.

On my way home now. I hope the fucker has moved.

BatteredBreadedOrSouthernFried · 23/11/2017 15:39

If they haven’t moved, team up with your nice neighbour and park at each end of offending car and block them! Grin they’ll have to ask you nicely to move your car.

CryptFascist · 23/11/2017 16:39

I’m anxious for the update on this

Lenl · 23/11/2017 17:02

Really really dull update. I got home and the car was gone. Half want to make up an exciting ending (which I think many of these threads do...) but it ended up taking 4 stupid hours to walk the dog with a screaming baby, crying toddler, roadworks and traffic. So my imagination is lacking.

DP thinks it was deliberate because it was so stupid and agrees they should be blocked in if it happens again.

I do have a driving question I want to ask so maybe I'll do another diagram aibu later Grin

Fekko · 23/11/2017 17:04

Squirty cream. Label car appropriately. It won't move the vehicle but will amuse you and passers by.

StealthNinjaMum · 23/11/2017 17:39

Glad the cheeky fucker moved.

Yay, can't wait to see your next thread. (Please put that it has a diagram in the title so I can find it!)

Lenl · 23/11/2017 18:00

3 hours. Not 4. Though it felt like 4.

...counts on fingers Blush
