Dear Father Christmas/Santa, Please grant our Christmas Wish. We have been very good this year. We promise not to say shit, cunt, or fuck too terribly much unless we're driven to it by Trump CuntFuckery. Oh shit, so much for that promise! Well, we'll TRY. Thank You, the MN Viper Freedom Squad

The Trump Administration Is Mulling A Pitch For A Private “Rendition” And Spy Network

A private company has proposed that the US government pay it millions to undertake intelligence and covert operations.

I admit I’ve been at a child sexual exploitation training session all day so my outlook on life and humanity was already pretty bleak but I’m not filled with optimism at the latest developments and even more scarily, I don’t think I’m alone

"Mueller's team has agreed." Ridiculous. I continue to wonder whether Mueller's investigation is little more than a grand mollifier of anti-authoritarians, a delaying tactic to keep us calmly waiting while Trump and the GOP quickly do as much damage as possible.

As I've previously noted, even in the best case scenario, the longer Mueller's investigation drags on, the worse the best possible outcome gets. That is: Pence or Ryan (or literally any other Republican) guarding unfathomable erosion of norms & liberties achieved in the interim.

The Trump administration wants to hand over spying duties to a private company in Whitefish, MT.

Whitefish is also home to a power company with two employees that got a $300 million Trump admin contract in Puerto Rico.

Whitefish has 6,500 residents.

Whitefish is also home to Richard Spencer, his National Policy Institute"white supremacist "thinktank," and alternativeright(dot)com.

Whitefish is also the town white supremacists, led by Daily Stormer founder Andrew Anglin, descended upon to harass a random Jewish woman.

Again, this town has 6,500 total people in it.

amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/apr/20/tanya-gersh-daily-stormer-richard-spencer-whitefish-montana

As always with this administration, I'm sure it's all one big coincidence

It's also worth noting the absolutely enormous amount of money, resources and time an old, rich white guy named William Regnery gave white supremacist Whitefish resident Richard Spencer over the past decade.

Richard Spencer's wife Nina Kouprianova also lives in Whitefish, where the Trump administration may hand over a contract to privatize the U.S.' spying operation.

She backs almost every Kremlin talking point, and was dubbed an "independent scholar" by RT.

You can cut the tension in the Senate chamber with a knife. A 15 minute procedural vote has dragged out for an hour as Flake, Corker and Johnson withhold their votes. Angry discussions happening on the floor that press can't hear from up in the gallery.

PerkingFaintly · 30/11/2017 23:02

I'm feeling the bleakness too, today.

Basically, the US Republican Party seems to be playing the role of the pro-Facist British aristocracy in the 1930s. Members either don't mind the madman, 'cos they're getting all the other stuff they want. Or they rather like the madman 'cos they actually share his values and desires.

cozietoesie · 01/12/2017 00:40

I receive the impression that he's becoming increasingly irrelevant. They want certain things (GOP aims) so they're going for them - NOW.

THREAD: Does today’s news that Trump pushed Congress to prematurely end its Russia investigations mean he obstructed justice?

1/ Today @nytimes reported that Trump repeatedly urged Congress to end the Russia investigations.

2/ It is a crime for anyone to try to interfere with a Congressional investigation if they’re acting with “corrupt” intent. In other words, with the intent to interfere with the investigation unlawfully.

3/ You can make a compelling argument that Trump is trying to use his considerable influence as President to prematurely end an investigation into his family.

4/ Trump’s team will argue that he believes the investigations have no merit and he is just asking Congress to bring meritless investigations to a swift end. As the story notes, GOP Congressmen argue that he is naive and doesn’t understand that he is doing anything improper.

5/ On its own, this action by Trump is not sufficient to prove obstruction beyond a reasonable doubt. But Mueller could use it as evidence of Trump’s intent along with a lot of other evidence to show that Trump had “corrupt” intent when he fired Comey.

6/ At the very least, it shows that Trump is extremely interested in the Russia investigations and is highly motivated to end them prematurely. /end

So does it seem like Mueller may not be what we hoped he might be? That's depressing.

Was just reading a letter of support in the Times Natsku from Janis Sharp mother of Gary McKinnon. Everything crossed for him.

Janis is lovely, she helped me sort out the lawyers for my brother when he was first arrested and has given lots of advice and support.

OnTheDarkSideOfTheSpoon · 01/12/2017 09:12

I think it’s just an unknown natsku. I’m hopeful that he is the principled moral force we think he is but whether the government allows itself to be held accountable for it’s treachery remains to be seen.
