AIBU to ring BFF before 6.00 am to tell her David Cassidy has died...

It ain't going to bring him back.
She'll find out soon enough when she wakes to get kids off to school.

It would BU to wake her soooo early & seem overindulgent. Except that David Cassidy was a big part of our teenage years & we shared so much - galavanting round London, sweltering at Wembley, endless playing of LPs & general teenage girlie swooning - daydreamin' baby.

I was a bit of a fellow traveler compared to my friend's hard core assertion that she was to marry him. Me? I'd have just dallied with him for a while ;-)

I was really shocked by Bowie's death & felt that loss for many months.
I'm surprised by how moved I have been about Cassidy's final days, may he rest in peace.

My youth is firmly behind me & I'm feeling my mortality .

Just don't get me started on Rodney Bewes...

Yes. I understand. My DM sais he was a big part of hers too.

However, anyone who usually rings after midnight or before 6am will immediately make me worry something bad has happened to one of the family. I wouldn't unnecessarily panic her like that.

Send her a text. Brew

Presumably she has seen the news about his death being imminent so it shouldn't be s complete surprise.

I'd leave it. She'll find out soon enough. Let her sleep.

I hope you didn't wake her - no doubt she has activities planned she'd prefer not to be tired for today.

Personally I think you should only wake people if there's an emergency (with friend/relative not celebrity) or someone's sick (friend/relative not celebrity) and on their way to hospital. If someone's dead, you being awake earlier to hear about it won't make any difference.

Hey Universal

I think I'm a bit younger than you - he was like my first childhood crush (with Donny Osmond, obviously!). I feel disproportionately sad today. Sad and old.

It's definitely a case of 'for whom the bell tolls'. I think I'm sad about my own mortality rather than his actual death, although hearing that he died from alcoholism doesn't help matters much Sad

At least Donny still seems to be going strong - and still looks good!
