We are gathering prizes for our school Christmas event and it got me wondering, what's the most amazing prize you have seen raffled off for a school event?

A weekend three night break at center parcs. Sadly the family who donated this (Dad was a director of CP) moved their kids to a poncy prep school a few weeks later.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 22/11/2017 19:02

I love these ‘money can’t buy’ prizes- give me more!

jarhead123 · 22/11/2017 19:05

Some of these are crazy! Our best prize is probably a family day out somewhere local.

I think our school has at least 3 bottles of cheap prosecco which go in the raffle each year, are won, not drunk, donate again next year.

Best prizes are fancy photo shoot and kids party organised

superram · 22/11/2017 19:33

Ours has a posh hand bag and tv this year. I’ve had a couple of haircuts too. I would love a babysitting voucher.

needmymouthsewnup · 22/11/2017 19:38

My DD's school (in the US) had a 50/50 raffle last year, where you pay $1 and you win 50% of whatever the final amount is, so the more people who play, the more the winner gets. The other half goes to the PTA. I bought one ticket and won it Confused . It was about $180 each I think. You do kind of need a bit of a float to start with though to make it attractive, but it's a nice easy earner with little effort. As they went round selling tickets, they told people what the current total was running at.

Life size cardboard Shay Given

elliejjtiny · 22/11/2017 19:42

Love the idea of head's parking space being a raffle prize.

NoFuckingRoomOnMyBroom · 22/11/2017 19:48

I too need to look at other schools for the DC, best we get is cheap fizz...

LifeLaundry · 22/11/2017 19:57

This isnt the best Ive seen, but Im not very lucky in raffles and last year I won a 10% off a handmade gluten free cake.

Our raffle is made up of donations from stallholders, so its a very eclectic mix, and not all that popular.

dingdongdigeridoo · 22/11/2017 21:34

Bah, it’s all shit prosecco and scented candles at DS’s school.

Worst school fete prize I ever won was a catering sized tin of spam-like meat with egg in the middle. My mum binned it on the way home since we don’t even eat pork.

TooManyPaws · 22/11/2017 21:37

I won a gallon bottle of whisky at my school once. Sadly, my parents drank it rather than keep it till I turned 18. Hmm

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 22/11/2017 21:39

We've had diamond pendants, spa weekends, hotel overnighters with dinner, Free veg boxes delivered for 3 months. All sorts of weird and wonderful stuff.

I never win. But I love seeing people's faces when they win something good.

Twinkletowedelephant · 22/11/2017 21:41

Prize all the kids want is a VIP day..

Winner +3 friends have a VIP day get special chairs in class and go out for a long lunch with chosen teacher have chairs to sit on in assembly - and each child nominated a teacher to do their homework for the week

WineIsTheAnswer · 22/11/2017 21:56

Our village school has a total of 50 pupils. We got spa days, London theatre weekends, villa in Spain for a week in summer holidays, Beauty bundles, meal at a very good (and always booked up) restaurant, family annual passes to theme parks etc. I always won at least one top prize a year as there were so many top prizes to few families.

I moved my DC to a 400+ pupil school and now it's a tin of beans and a bottle of wine type thing PTA give the top prize of £20. I wonder sometimes if previous school would mind us having a few raffle tickets off of friends.

TitsalinaBumSqoosh · 22/11/2017 21:59

This is very outing but who cares, a mum at our school brought in a box of packets of Percy Pigs for the hampers that are made up and raffles off today, everyone loves Percy Pigs! 😃

nobutreally · 22/11/2017 22:01

Caribbean villa for a week (or ten days, I forget) sleeping ten I think. Although you did have to pay flights (state secondary).

I absolutely love the head's parking space one though - that is genius!

Ffsdh · 22/11/2017 22:03

Top prize at ds’s school last year was a meal in your home served by a (absolute z list) celebrity (not a chef, think Bobby Davro or someone) who was the uncle of one of the pupils. A friend of mine won it and it was apparently absolutely excruciating.

RapidStreaming · 22/11/2017 22:07

The ones that I have seen raise the most money have been:
Parking space at the front of school.
One evening's babysitting by the head teacher (was bought by parents of the naughtiest child in the school!).

Both raised significantly more than offers of spa days and such like.

Thesqueezermustghost · 22/11/2017 22:12

School in a very businessy part of town here so massive TV's, posh hotel breaks, Michelin star restaurant meals, spa treatnments. Artworks, trips abroad etc etc. Secondary school is underwhelming by comparison.

MrsHathaway · 22/11/2017 22:52

One of our parents is a telly writer so the top auction of promises prize was a day on set of the next series. The top summer raffle prize was £250 cash, sponsored by a local company. Top at Christmas is one of those fucking enormous novelty cuddly toys: the children all want to win it and the adults all hope not to Grin

Tbh I was delighted the year before last to win the hamper that had wine and chocolates and Pringles in it. I haven't seen the full accounts to see what difference the new big prizes have made to ticket sales.

That said, we have a separate raffle at Christmas for The Wheelbarrow. Just a standard builder/gardening steel wheelbarrow... full of donated booze. Costs PTA under fifty quid for the barrow (if they can't squeeze a free one out of someone) and raises easily ten times that in tickets.

WillowWeeping · 22/11/2017 22:59

We've had some extravagant prizes over the years but I'm with other posters when I say I like the heads parking space.

Whinesalot · 22/11/2017 23:01

But where did the head teacher park?

FernArable · 22/11/2017 23:14

4 x 4 day park hopper passes to Disneyworld. Also a year long priority parking pass for all school events.
We’re in a wealthy suburb of a US city so always loads of local sporting tickets donated as well.

ThePants999 · 23/11/2017 08:17

A discount off estate agency fees when selling your home.

Oh wait, did you say BEST prize?
