Had a festive day out booked for 4 year old DS for a few weeks - sitting smug thinking it was all sorted. Read between the lines when checking recently and realised there is no meeting with Santa (despite it being £54 for 90 minutes Confused! Aghhh! Cue panicky trying to find a Santa 'late' in the day. Have booked a fab one but will be taking DS out of school for a day as all weekends are booked up (breaking up super late here this year) I am so stressed! If you don't book in October you don't stand a chance! Tell me it wasn't always thus!

I hate the way this has grown into such a massive guilt trip for parents if they don't spend a fortune on taking little Oliver or Maisie to see Santa

I didn't know it had. Some of the posts on here are just insane. I had just been reading the thread where someone is bemoaning the fact her 7 year old is bright enough to work out Santa isn't real. The first 2 posts from the OP are so hysterically over the top I initially thought it was a satirical response.

Our school fair has a Santa visit. 50p a pop and Santa knows their names. They get a candy cane and a lovely picture in the photocopier room grotto. No planning required.

What fresh hell is this? Just when I think I"ve got the hang of this parenting thing, I discover I'm being severely inadequate at something I"d never eve realised was a "thing".

Bonkers!

queue - long line of people waiting to see Santa

cue - thing said or done that serves as a signal to an actor or other performer to enter or to begin their speech or performance (or a stick you play snooker with).

OP's use of 'cue' in her OP ('Cue panicky trying to find a Santa late') was correct, chicoletta... Hmm - if that's the one you meant...

Always beware of Murhpy's law when citicising other's SPaG...

I was referring to the OP's second post in this thread. But thanks ever so much for the explanation.
