To ask for my agency role to be considered when working out OMP?

So, I missed the cut off for Occupational Maternity Pay by less than 2 weeks. I accept this and feel me and DH will manage, although we will drop about £1200 per month income for 6 months. However, I was speaking to someone today who stated that as I filled my current post as an agency worker before I got my permanent start date, I should ask for the extra 3 months in the role to be taken into consideration. I’m not sure really but I suppose if you don’t ask, you don’t get! Any HR or anyone else who has experience of this? The more I think about it, the more I feel I should get it!

Weren't you working for the agency for those months and not the organisation you work for now? It's always worth asking, but I would expect that the company's scheme requires you to be on the pay roll by a certain point to qualify.
