Ever since the story broke I have been transfixed. I don't know why. I don't know these people (I live overseas) but something about this case fascinated me.

Anyone else?

These reality 'star' types often seem to be attracted to 'bad boys'.

Oh, that explains a lot. I live overseas and don't have a TV, so don't really know this people.

Absolute thug, I hope he goes away for a long time. I was reading about the impact the attack had on his victims. Acid is a wicked wicked weapon to use.

I do feel for Ferne McCann as well, this trial was not the nicest context to give birth in.

I think I understand what you mean. It's caught my attention because I can't comprehend why someone would do something so vile. Aside from showing a complete lack of any empathy for other people, I can't understand why someone would ruin their own life to commit a crime like this. Surely he must have realised the consequences of being caught?

I don't think there's anything abnormal or wrong about wanting an insight into the reasons for behaviour/actions so alien to our own.

Leilaniii · 14/11/2017 07:35

It's horrible McTufty. I feel so sorry for the victims and for Ferne. He had so much going for him - why throw it all away? I just don't understand it.

I'm interested in the sense that I don't understand why the TOWIE women have relationships with people like this. Gemma Collins, Ferne McCann and Lauren Goodger. The Faiers sisters' stepdad is a bank robber.

Youcanstayundermyumbrella · 14/11/2017 07:37

If he was involved in gangs and dealing drugs, then he might have had plenty of money but he was hardly leading a nice peaceful life beforehand. That lifestyle is high risk and, I would imagine, not always very comfortable.

Leilaniii · 14/11/2017 07:37

I didn't know that about the others, derxa. Maybe those are the circles that they are already involved in.

YABU. Some criminals think there's a sort of glamour about their lifestyle, their bad-boy reputations etc. Being fascinated by them just bolsters that, and risks making them into role models for younger people.

Really, they're just brutal, low-life scum.

StealthPolarBear · 14/11/2017 07:43

Sunny jac of course not as you full well know. Don't be goady

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 14/11/2017 07:45

Daddy issues?

ihatethecold · 14/11/2017 07:50

My DH (senior PO in the met) thinks this will be a test case and they will make an example of him and the sentencing will be harsh (deservingly) to send a message out that acid attacks will be punished accordingly.

BigGreenOlives · 14/11/2017 07:51

I just heard an interview on Radio 4 with a young woman who was injured by him. I would far rather think about her & the other victims than him. She has injuries to her neck, stomach and lower legs. It was her birthday and she’d gone out with her friends. I hope that she fulfills her ambitions work wise and that her injuries do not prevent her from having a happy and successful life.

Leilaniii · 14/11/2017 07:51

I think the longest custodial sentence they can impose for GBH is 18 years?

19lottie82 · 14/11/2017 07:55

Ferne must have known what he was like. Maybe not to the extent he would do this, but there was no chance she imagined him as an angel. She knew how he made his money, yet she still got pregnant by him. Silly woman.

Rudgie47 · 14/11/2017 07:56

Hes nothing special OP, theres plenty of really good looking villians in prisons. Hes a little fish in a very big pond.

whiskyowl · 14/11/2017 08:00

What is there to be fascinated by? He's not just a thug, he's a stupid thug who harmed a load of innocent people.

Discotits · 14/11/2017 08:04

There is a glamour for some women, dating a ‘bad boy’, all that ‘they’re good boys really, they love their mum’ Krays rubbish I still hear (I live in East London). People have a fondness for it, I don’t understand it all. I think this guy did it because he’s of limited intelligence and he’s a thug, and I don’t feel particularly sorry for Ferne; she’s a good example of those silly women who go for men like this, but I certainly feel sorry for that baby.

Leilaniii · 14/11/2017 08:05

Ferne must have known what he was like.

Do you think she did? I'm not suggesting she didn't, as I said, I don't know these people. But didn't he have a proper business scaffolding or something? Maybe she wasn't aware of his sideline in drug dealing?

It intrigued me too for lots of reasons. Number 1 how could he go out to celebrate the announcement of his girlfriends pregnancy and how could it have ended like this.

Also the fact that he offered an "excuse" about the date rape drug, I was intrigued to watch the cctv to see if I thought it looked believable.

Also when he was wanted by police he ran and then jumped out a bathroom window and broke his two feet then still attempted to run away. The mind boggles. Did he really think he would escape. I really don't understand that mindset. They will find you so why not go peacefully.

I can't relate to these people at all but do wonder how and why they stayed caught up in a gang and gang war. How hard would it have been to move away from that I wonder? I guess when your caught up its hard to leave.

I worry for my children.

treaclesoda · 14/11/2017 08:07

I'd never heard of Ferne McCann until this case so I have no idea about her own career etc but what I do know is that I don't feel sorry for anyone who enters into a relationship with a known gangster type. I don't believe that you could be in the middle of that lifestyle and be unaware of it.

I feel sorry for the baby though.

NumberEightyOne · 14/11/2017 08:07

What is even more baffling is that they are given airtime by ITV.

demirose87 · 14/11/2017 08:08

People do things like this usually because they are bad people. There's nothing to be fascinated by. He's a scumbag, end of. I do feel sorry for Ferne though.

NumberEightyOne · 14/11/2017 08:10

These people want the thrill of walking into a nightclub and being feared, or being on the arm of somebody who is feared. Plus, they are too fucking thick to pay for the lifestyle they crave through honest means, so they have to get involved with drugs.

Teddy7878 · 14/11/2017 08:11

Apparently he lived in a mansion and drove very expensive cars. She must have known he wasn't earning all that just from scaffolding. He was only 24 too and didn't come from a wealthy background.
I bet he was high on cocaine or something when he threw the acid. He seems like an absolute pleb and I hope he goes away for a long time to teach him a proper lesson
