Now, I might be enjoying this fall out because my DS went to the HelloWorld event and was badly ripped off (a YouTuber event which went terribly wrong) but finally Zoella is being challenged on her over priced tat merchandise. Particularly her advent calendar which is £50 FIFTY FUCKING POUNDS for the likes of confetti, 2 tiny candles, a thin copy book and a Pom Pom!

www.boots.com/zoella-12-days-of-christmas-advent-calendar-10235552

Social media is going mad, there are thousands of tweets, a viral video lampooning it is doing the rounds and it was discussed on 5Live last night.

Is anyone watching this fall out?

Do we think this will finally be the end of these terrible, vacuous idiots? Or am I too optimistic?

This can't be doing her anxiety any good.

Hope they find something on that drippy boyfriend of hers too

Her boyfriend, Alfie, is a knobhead as well.

Yeah Cosmo is one of those "aimed at adults but only because 18 year olds will want to read it to appear mature" magazines.

RoseDog · 15/11/2017 14:50

Youtubers are now slowly coming out to defend her, it’s like a cult!

I’ve been thinking more about this today...who is her target audience for the calendar?

My dd is 14 and would be disappointed with a pen, tiny note book and fluffy Pom Pom keying, the look like they’ve came from a 5 year olds party bag, so I doubt an adult would be impressed with them.

The candles and room spray...no parent would comprise their bricks and mortar by letting a teenager light a candle in their room, as for room spray, teenagers rooms are shit tips I doubt they want to spray a room spray!

Cookie cutters...doesn’t everyone have a gazillion of them collected over the years when trying to be the perfect baking mum and failing every time in my case

As for the confetti...not in my house, I’d be picking it up in the dogs poop 💩

I just can’t work out what age they were targeted at...

0hCrepe · 15/11/2017 15:06

My dd 11 would maybe go for it, she wouldn’t say no but then she wouldn’t pay with her own money.

Andylion · 15/11/2017 15:33

Is there any chance that Boots will comment on her claims that she is not to blame for the price?

MargoLovebutter · 15/11/2017 15:41

I'd say Boots will keep their heads down for as long as she is taking the flack on this, even with her feeble denial of all knowledge.

eyebrowsonfleek · 15/11/2017 15:58

She’s apologized for the tweets

twitter.com/zoella/status/930773949834723328

MargoLovebutter · 15/11/2017 16:03

Wow, I thought those tweets must have been fake, but they clearly weren't! It is a non apology as well, as she just says she wouldn't say stuff like that now. I guess she keeps her homophobia to herself these days.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 15/11/2017 16:07

I genuinely thought those tweets were fake as I couldn’t possibly imagine her writing them.

I’m shocked that they were really her thoughts, pretty fucking shitty things to write and I hope this fucks up her squeaky clean image especially and she can’t even bring herself to actually apologise so I can only imagine she would still write the same if she didn’t have a brand to promote.

Stupid stupid woman

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 15/11/2017 16:09

I’ve screenshot her number of subscribers as I’ll be very interested to see if they go up or down in the mext few days

MoistCantaloupe · 15/11/2017 16:10

I love how she apologised for the less offensive 'chav' and 'skank' and the 'other things' means her fat shamming and gay comment.

Bloomed · 15/11/2017 16:20

She also used a transphobic slur

Idontevencareanymore · 15/11/2017 16:24

Her apology is as false as the claim her calendar is good value for money.
She's just passing the buck onto a big faceless company we all adore to hate on. She's doing the age old trying not to cry/show emotion/holding back the tears act.

I think she's gross. Her whole brand is gross. At least own it when you make a mistake.

Probably why she's issued such an oblique statement. If she'd apologised for her use of homophobic and transphobic terms more of her fanbase would have noticed them.

ChronicPainDaddy · 15/11/2017 16:31

fridge seemingly not as the twitter feed for her apology is just full of people defending her saying that the world was a very different place in 2009-2012 so you can't judge her as she was only young. Some were even saying such inane things like nowadays everyone has their own minds but back then you just went with the crowd and said what was acceptable at the time. You know like it was a completely different century rather then 5 or so years ago

MoistCantaloupe · 15/11/2017 16:32

Definitely Bloomed. It was calculated to focus on the what people would find the least offensive.

Mac12345 · 15/11/2017 16:32

The comments make me want to vomit. All foot kissing stuff about how we all make msitakes and grow and move on and how brave and amazing she is. It reminds me of the crazy Taylor Swift fans who sent death threats to the HMV store in Birmingham because they played her album in store.

It's scary how blind and obsessive some people can get about "celebrities".

MissionItsPossible · 15/11/2017 16:36

"I'm sorry I used those words but I didn't really because I was only talking about TV shows so it wasn't in context and I would never say those words"

Hmm
SpecialAgentDaleCooper · 15/11/2017 16:42

I think this could be the start of something. The media have picked up on this and I suspect will go on to roast a few more YouTube "stars".

There was a thread on here last week about some big convention/meet and greet with YouTubers that was a complete rip-off.

Maybe teens will start seeing them for what they are - average people who just happened to get lucky and are now a money-making brand, a business.

Dozer · 15/11/2017 16:44

She’s a successful businesswoman with her high YouTube and books income, so is further damaging her reputation and credibility as an entrepreneur by pleading ignorance. Bad judgment.
