My DH bought a Bakewell tart the other day. Ok. Fine so far.
Disgusting git bought custard to go on top.
He's wrong and foul isn't he?
If it helps swing it my way he says the opinion of MN doesn't count.
He may not live to see Monday! Grin

The Mr Kiplings type with icing is meant to be eaten as it is, as a cake with a cuppa.

The ones without icing are best warmed through and custard drizzled generously all over.

YANBU. I'd seriously consider your future with this poor excuse of a husband (although mine eats tinned marrowfat peas on toast so I can't really judge can I).

School Dinner = Bakewell Tart with Custard.

Lelloteddy · 12/11/2017 18:20

If it’s a proper Bakewell Tart, baked in Bakewell, then YANBU.

If it’s any other sort of imitation, YABU. Custard is a required evil in that scenario.

Mine loves mushy peas. He says on toast is "an idea".
I'm seriously considering whether this marriage has a future. My poor children. What kind of pudding values will they grow up with?! Shock

I'd eat it with custard. What's not to like?

I'd eat pretty much any pudding with hot custard.

Rowgtfc72 · 12/11/2017 19:11

Bakewell pudding and custard, yes.

Bakewell tart and custard, no chance.

I thought it was odd when my DH did this, but I'm used to him eating odd food combinations.
I actually tried it and it's lovely.

My DH does shit like this. He's just getting the idea that most dessert requires an accompaniment but always buys the wrong one! Custard with key lime pie anyone?

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 12/11/2017 20:14

Go to Bakewell. Get a Bakewell Pudding. Serve hot with custard.
Mmm.

BeALert · 12/11/2017 20:16

Now I have to go and buy the ingredients to make a Bakewell Tart. Curse you all!

Wolfiefan · 12/11/2017 20:17

But no custard! Grin
