To not want bizarre stringy tit anchors on my bras?

I went bra shopping this morning - annoying enough at the best of times but manufacturers seem to have developed some kind of obsession with adding weird stringy bits across the tops of the cups and between the straps. At least on anything that isn't 'basic' or a flesh coloured minimiser designed to make you feel as dowdy as possible.

I suit V necklines best, so I like plunge and balconette bras - adding a weird pointless web of extra metal hoops and strings just means you can only wear the bloody things under a turtleneck Angry

Over shoulder boulder holders.

I did admit to being a bit shocked when I saw a young girl walking down the street wearing a bondage collar. But I put it down to my advancing age!

These seem fairly harmless and surely just a variant on the weird strappy tops that are around at the moment.

Save money. Don't buy a silly top. Wear a normal top and a silly bra! Then when the fashion changes you have a normal top and a bra that you can wear hidden.

JetCity have you also seen the bra intervention threads? Only asking as the bra you linked seems to go up to DD only, and most people who have been correctly fitted would not describe DDs as 'whacking great mammaries'.

JetCityWoman · 13/11/2017 19:17

KatharinaRosalie Trust me mine are big. DD isn't small when you take into account matalan bra sizes are off. none of their DD bras are consistent. I've tried on bras there that are too small in the back and the cups fit perfect or too small in the cup but the back fits and they are labeled the same size.

Its the same with most shops to be fair. I know my size I have been properly fitted but don't take it as gospel because there isn't consistency in any of the shops. Vanity sizing exists in undies so I try stuff on.

an anne summers 38DD will not even fit me. I need an E or an F cup but some matalan 38DDs will. Figleaves its an E cup. M&S for some reason I need a bigger back band at a 40. my underbust measurement is a 37inch over its a 44/45inch depending on the time of the month. curvy kate bras I just cannot stand and are really uncomfortable even with the correct size. Freya I need to go up a bigger size 38F. Elomi just aren't cut for my boob shape. Simply be own brand bras I am different sizes depending on the style.

Yes I am aware the bra sizing doesn't match my measurements but when I try them on the fit comfortably and as they should with no digging, riding up, wires sitting on my rib cage etc. A part of this is down to the bra style, my body shape. I couldn't wear plunge bras in any cup size. My boobs fall out of them. Balconette cracking job.

I know exactly whatyou mean - I just cut them off
Shock

TerribleTime · 13/11/2017 19:31

I hadn't noticed this before but now i have seen the stringy tit anchors everywhere today!

KatharinaRosalie · 13/11/2017 20:10

Sure JetCity, whatever feels comfortable. Not familiar with Matalan sizing myself. Your measurements suggest about 36FF or G in most brands I'm wearing, which is indeed quite substantial.

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 13/11/2017 20:11

Tit anchor? Confused

OlennasWimple · 13/11/2017 20:43

They're just odd (and surely won't last very long? Won't washing them make the straps go limp?)

StrangeLookingParasite · 13/11/2017 20:50

Oh for goodness sake, there are barely any of these bras in regular shops like Primark or M&S. OP, I get 5he feeling you were trying to start a thread where everyone clutches their pearls and (yet again) slags off women who like wearing stuff like this.

The misogyny on MN is ridiculous at times.

Dear me.
That escalated quickly.

Hmm

They all look like Marlies Dekkers ripoffs to me...

Sparklyhousedust · 13/11/2017 20:53

They’re called harness bras. However it’s a catch all term so I advise caution for google purposes.

Should have paid attention to you there IncyWincy

IncyWincyGrownUp · 13/11/2017 21:07

Rookie mistake Sparkly!

DonkeyOaty · 13/11/2017 22:12

Haha best not google Dragon Butter then.

Sparklyhousedust · 14/11/2017 00:33

😂 learned my lesson!

Purplealienpuke · 14/11/2017 06:09

As much as I quite like the look of them I'm not sure I'd find one to fit me.
Tbh it would be a pointless exercise as I don't venture out very often & when I'm home it only me 🙄.
M&S measuring services were crap. Several years ago I went to be measured. I explained I was already wearing a D cup but it felt uncomfortable. The woman decided I was a B cup!! I laughed at her and left. I was an E with a larger band size.
When breast feeding I went to a HH! I think those monstrosities would have looked like satsumas in a net in a harness bra 😂

DonkeyOaty · 14/11/2017 09:01

Oh Sparkly you donut! Grin

JetCityWoman · 14/11/2017 11:17

KatharinaRosalie yep! frustrating. I did try on a 36 back band a couple of weeks back and it was defo too tight so I stick to the 38 back band for as long as it feels comfortable though with the weight loss goals I'm expecting I will go down to a 36 again. Never been smaller than a 36.
