WIBU to let my chickens in next doors garden?

Seeing as their 3 fucking cats spend their days shitting in my dc’s sandpit and digging up my plants?

I’ve tried everything - squirting with water pistol, sonic cat repellant, covering up sandpit (they just shit on the cover then). I had a little nest of robins in my tree earlier this year and one of the cats knocked the nest over then put a baby bird on dc’s slide.

We have a low wall at the end of our garden that extends along the bottom of next doors garden too. My chickens are free range during the day and have recently been hopping up on this wall. Dh mentioned we should probably put up some kind of fencing to stop them walking along it and going into next doors garden. But next door have no problem with their pets shitting all over my garden and I’m inclined to feel the same about them tbh.

Cats are no threat to the chickens btw, the chickens have seen off the cats many a time (one of the reasons I’m quite fond of them). Next door don’t have a dog either so chickens would be quite safe there.

People have cats. Deal with it. Nothing you can do about it other than cat repellent and if they don't work then they obviously really love shitting in your garden. They probably know how much it annoys you and do it purpose. Cats tend to do that sort of thing. It's bizarre because there's about 20 cats on our road and none of them shit in our garden...

dameglittersparkles · 13/11/2017 11:17

Fucking nerf gun the bastards 😡😂

mustbemad17 · 13/11/2017 11:19

doodle01 · 13/11/2017 11:25

Forgot electric fence

outabout · 13/11/2017 11:27

Cats are way more environmentally friendly than people. Cull the people!

Heartofglass12345 · 13/11/2017 12:01

They usually hate citrus smells and vicks vaporub if thats any help!

ChickenlessHead · 13/11/2017 12:16

That escalated quickly out

This is all you need to keep cats in their own garden. Simple chicken wire.
They climb up the fence and realise their heads won't go over the top...

But if you live next door to someone who insists their mogs have a legal right to shit in your garden; you're basically screwed.

mustbemad17 · 13/11/2017 12:37

Build a fortress around your garden instead?? If NDN won't keep them in then build a cat fortress to keep the buggars out

Squarerouteofsquirrel · 13/11/2017 12:37

chicken not your not going to get into an argument because there is no scientific evidence to back up your 'opinion'.

Its over population on the part of humans that you want to be campaigning about, not bullying your next door neighbours cats.

ChickenlessHead · 13/11/2017 12:53

I’m not bullying NDN cats! Seriously, what part of my behavior is me being anything other than slightly irritated?

OP posts:
dameglittersparkles · 13/11/2017 12:55

Bullying the cats 😂😂😂

ChickenlessHead · 13/11/2017 12:59

Also I’m really not campaigning about anything, just asking how terrible it would be if I let my chickens wander into ND’s garden.

our cats appear to hate the noise they make and they travel in packs (flocks?)

mustbemad17 · 13/11/2017 13:37

OP the consensus clearly is you simply need to fill your garden with various vicious birds 😂

Severide08 · 13/11/2017 13:43

So envious I would love geese.I have had ex batt rescued chickens in the past. Not had any since my last girls passed away, this thread is making me want to get some now .I have cats and they would go no where near the chickens. A chicken running full pelt at a cat wings out soon has the cat running. I do sympathise with the cat poo in your garden,we are in a rural village area with fields so don't think mine bother anyone. I would let the chickens loose 😊 mine used to walk along the top of our really high wall that surrounds the garden never went out but used to amuse our neighbours greatly and they used to give us their left over veg as treats for our girls .Am off now to look at rescue hens next rehoming day .

ChickenlessHead · 13/11/2017 14:00

severride we’re only borrowing the geese sadly. I’ve not really had too much to o with geese so I’m interested to see what they’re like. Get some more chickens! These are our third lot - we hatch them, watch them grow, enjoy them and their eggs for a year or so and then eat them up. It’s so lovely for the dc’s to see and chickens are just hilarious. I hadn’t appreciated quite how attached I’d get to them when we got our first lot.

Is it ridiculous that chickens scare me 😱 I am that cat that bolts when a chicken comes winging it my way, flapping it's wings & crowing at me 😂😂

JonSnowsWife · 13/11/2017 14:25

mustbemad17 no it must be a 'thing' like all phobias.

I remember the first time taking DD to a massive farm (with a seperate reptile house) as a toddler. The chickens were allowed to roam around freely and DD was shitscared. Absolutely fine in the reptile house though where she happily held a snake! Grin

Floellabumbags · 13/11/2017 14:30

I'm terrified of chickens, Paul McCartney and lifts. If we're ever in a shop with a lift the shitheads kids will beg to go in the lift and say "We're nearly at the first floor. Paul thingy might get in with his pet chicken and then the lights will go off and he'll rub his chicken on you in the dark" Bastards!

mustbemad17 · 13/11/2017 14:35

JonSnow detest chickens but own a snake here haha 😃 Much rather have a python round my neck than a chicken fluttering within a mile of me 🙈

Floella make them go it alone hahaha. Meet them at the top 😂

Severide08 · 13/11/2017 17:07

ChickenlessHead chickens are great we have had some real characters used to wander in our house, even found two standing top of the stairs .I miss going out and shouting girlies and they all coming running .Our kids loved them too .They are all unique personalities .Talking.myself into it here lol .We have them from the battery farms when they are fatherless and give it couple months and tlc they look fav.

mustbemad17 · 13/11/2017 17:23

I used to work for a lady who had chickens. If you left the door open they'd come in & steal the dog's biscuits...the dog used to hide until they were done or got shooed out 😂
