To wish Danny and Sandy didn't fly off in the car?

At the end of Grease? To me it’s just a horrible cheesy ending to one of my favourite films. And yes, watching it as a grown up i can see its messages are sexist and wrong and Danny is a complete turd, but I loved it as a child and can’t put it aside.

But the car, no...crap even as a child.

Grease is an awful film. I hate the way Sandy had to change to be accepted. It sends a terrible message to young people

Sparklingbrook · 11/11/2017 14:08

DS1 (18) watched it for the first time last week, he was very underwhelmed. Grin

But Danny changed for her too? He stopped hanging out with the lads, tried sports, earned his letter jacket instead of the leathers etc.

If we're discussing Back To The Future can we discuss why when Marty hit puberty his parents didn't recognise him as the guy who got them together.

Trivia: In the original script the time machine was a fridge. True story.

No we can't Queen Grin we mustn't spoil the magic. Angry

We could pick apart Ferris Bueller's Day Off maybe.

RainbowsAndCrystals · 11/11/2017 14:22

The Friends Phoebe one is chilling

No it really isn't.

Because it is unbelievable. At most, they would think, "Wow, doesn't Marty look a lot like that Calvin Klein guy from way back when..."

What's the alternative ending to Friends?

Theresnonamesleft · 12/11/2017 02:13

The alternate ending

Theres also another one where Chandler dies.
Another one that everything is in Rachel's head where she is freaking out about her up coming nuptials to Barry.

Ahh I love Ferris Bueller's day off Sparkling. Never actually seen Grease all the way through though.

Rachie1986 · 12/11/2017 07:28

Wasted a lot of time looking at fan theories on friends. So interesting!

Sparklingbrook · 12/11/2017 07:34

One of my very favourite films is At Elmo's Fire, for loads of reasons.
But there have been a few threads in here picking it to bits mainly with regard to the male characters all being awful. Which they are. It I still love the film. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 12/11/2017 07:39

St Elmo's even!

coconuttella · 12/11/2017 07:51

It’s frustrating when people attack films that don’t clearly promote a feminist ideology, as though films should be a form of propaganda.

That Sandy transforms herself for ‘her man’ (and who’s to say it’s not also about her as she seems far more liberated and powerful in herself with her new image), isn’t ‘promoting’ anything, let alone misogyny, it’s simply part of a story! It’s important that we and our children recognise this when they read books and watch films, and be able to make critical judgments on how characters should impact their own beliefs and attitudes.

WildBluebelles · 12/11/2017 07:53

I always thought the car was a theme park ride and it then breaks free and drives away. Seeing as the last scene is set in a theme park.
