Fool what? Hindus don’t eat Hare Krishnas? Have I misunderstood?

No you haven't misunderstood, judas. Some Hindus are vegetarians, others also eat meat but none of them eat Hare Krishnas, although if they got them mixed up with hares it could happen.

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 10/11/2017 21:47

As an aside - Ds1 looks very much like the anglo version of Jesus, as portrayed in pictures at sunday school etc - with long wavy hair and a mystified benign expression.

He isn't though. Unless jesus had a talent for dropping towels on the floor and an interest in communism. But he does look like anglo portrayals of Jesus.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 10/11/2017 21:47

If I were to own a flamboyant pufferfish, I'd name him "Louis Spence".

FoolandFitz · 10/11/2017 21:58

Yes you are right flying monkey about Jains not eating garlic and onions. Some strict Hindus also don't eat garlic and onions. Nor Hare Krishnas, obviously.

Nonibaloni · 10/11/2017 22:08

allergic I wish I hadn’t asked, yuck

readyforno2 · 10/11/2017 22:12

Well, he could have declared himself a member of The Judean People’s Front. Or The People’s Front of Judea, if he was a splitter.

Maelstrop · 10/11/2017 22:22

Hare Krishna don't eat eggs. Something to do with the potential of becoming a life.

Going against the grain, I worked with 2 Jewish ladies for many years. Both were olive skinned and a bit 'foreign' looking. The current one I work with is very pale.

The idea of Jesus taking Communion e a representation of his own body is doing my nut in!

mikado1 · 10/11/2017 22:26

Jessica Simpson thought tuna was chicken because the brand she bought was 'Chicken of the sea' ConfusedGrin

@Maelstrop Sephardi Jews originate from the middle east and Mediterranean, whereas Ashkenazi Jews originate from Eastern Europe. Completely different colourings. I'm Ashkenazi and whiter than white though I did have a massive Jewish conk until I had my nose done like many Jewish teenagers

CaveMum · 10/11/2017 22:50

So glad to have pointed folk in the direction of "Jesus in a cabbage van" Grin

Is "Jewish Fridge" in Classics?

CaveMum · 10/11/2017 23:04

I've found the "Jewish Fridge" thread Grin

EvilDoctorBallerinaRoastDuck · 10/11/2017 23:24

It's not the Messiah, it's a very naughty fridge.

Yup, one was from Israel. I have three Jewish mates who are paler than me.

RidingWindhorses · 10/11/2017 23:56

What does 'foreign-looking' even mean in a country of immigrants?

There have been Jews in the UK since William the Conqueror.

My dad is dark-haired and olive-skinned, is he 'foreign looking'? (He's 100% British)

Do you mean not Anglo-Saxon or Celt looking?

I'd also point out that in the original comment 'foreign' = 'not white':

"I don't think most Jews in the Uk are white - they definitely look at bit foreign"

MissEliza · 11/11/2017 00:01

Has Paul OGrady been married twice to women? completely misses the point of the thread

Nonibaloni · 11/11/2017 00:06

MissEliza I’ll invite you round for Easter and you can find out in a hearty debate. I don’t want to spoil the conclusion though. Also helps if you mix up bisexual and manscaping.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 11/11/2017 00:07

Secretsmellies
Anyway... I'm Jewish. And in the UK. And completely white. Although I really rather fancy being 'foreign-looking'
For some reason as soon as PP said that all I could visualise was Maureen Lipman saying ‘Ah, smellies, in a certain light, you could really pass as Western’ Grin

MissEliza · 11/11/2017 00:09

Nonibaloni I’ll look forward to it!

verystressedmum · 11/11/2017 00:10

His surname was Christ GrinGrinConfused
Do people want to believe so much that Jesus was a white Christian that they make this stuff up?

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 11/11/2017 00:12

Eliza once to ‘the lesbian Portuguese barmaid’ (his fond description) Theresa Fernandez. He married her because her strict Catholic family kept pressurising her to marry. Which was good of him, what with him being the founder of Christianity Grin. He had a daughter with a previous female partner, though they were not married (she was a member of the People’s Front of Judea)

Ilovetea33 · 11/11/2017 00:19

But why would your dad think that Jesus was fat and bald?

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 11/11/2017 00:21

So I’m tired and I really need to go to bed now but I have to raise my grievance...I’m really not getting the respect I deserve on this thread. “Jesus”? Yeah, he was nothing without me. Seriously, people, have none of you seen Jesus Christ Superstar? Who got the best Choons? Yeah, that’s right, me!
“You really do believe this talk of God is true ooh ooh, Jeeeeeeeessssssuuuuusssss!!!!”

sashh · 11/11/2017 05:23

Jesus the man almost certainly did exist. This is not really in dispute.

Actually it is. And of course. as well as the academic debate there is Red Dwarf.

As for Jews becoming Christian there are Messianic Jews. I'm no expert but as far as I know they still consider themselves Jewish but do accept Jesus as the son of God. In north London you sometimes see car stickers with 'jews for jesus'.

I think we would have stuck to worshiping our own gods and goddesses rather than swapping to Roman ones, although they would probably become mixed up as different incarnations.

Has anyone mentioned the three faced stone heads? They are Celtic but may or may not be linked to the trinity, as i the idea of the trinity may have come from a Celtic myth, as did (may) the Madonna and child.

Jerseysilkvelour · 11/11/2017 06:15

Thanks for the genetics lesson re Mary and God. The Christ family had to be very open minded didn't they!

What does the H in Jesus H Christ stand for?

SecretSmellies · 11/11/2017 07:19

Judah that's made my morning! Grin

I'm Ashkenazi too by background. Like my DDad I am milk pale, with dark red hair and green eyes. My lot have been here since the pogroms, so not that long in the scheme of things - about 200 years.
