It might have been a smidge funny the first time but now it's not cute and it's as boring and irritating as fuck. Is it just me who hates the Andrex advert?

I have hated As Clean As A Washed Potato from the beginning. Just irritating.

Plus I've really gone off Andres ever since I bought a pack which insisted on the back that the correct way to wipe your bum was: loo roll, then wet wipe, then more loo roll to dry. Three times the waste, more than three times the cost, and nice wipes to flush and create a lovely fatberg in the sewers at the end of it.

I much prefer the haribo ad, where the adults lip sync to the children’s voices. I think the difference is the haribo kids sound like real children, the Andrex kids sound like scripted, overly rehearsed, stage school brats.

Natural kids, such as the kids (that are now all grown up) that were in Outnumbered are a million times more likeable than Johnny jazz hands.

Bring back the puppies, I too hate the new ad with the precocious kids!

oh and any adverts where the voices are dubbed.

I'd like to see an advert where the Andrex puppy takes on the Charmin Koala. Who would win? There's only one way to find out...

Essential, good points. I'd like to see the Andrex puppy in a context with an older pet too, so it's not pushing the "aw, puppies are so cute, let's get one" message and ties in with something about responsible dog ownership. Like the "a dog is for life, not just for Christmas", they could do a great campaign around this time of year.

oh apart from the Haribo dubbed one, that's fine. because it's obvious and deliberate. I mean the ones where they're clearly dubbed but are trying to make out that it's really the pictured person speaking. Often for cleaning or household products for some reason.

Love the Haribo ads, they are hilarious, and don't seem to be on that often, which makes them funnier!

If they arent going to have puppies they should stick to the Viz advert.

I seem to remember someone saying that the cleaning and household products ones that are dubbed are because the ads are actually Australian or American, and the actors "real" voices would reflect that.

Cringe worthy. Every creative involved should hang their head in shame!

Only your own kids are cute. There’s nothing cutesy for me about some kid getting their words mixed up and being all silly.

YABU, OP.

It was never a smidge funny!!

I have hated these from the beginning - they never were cute, they never were clever and they never were funny. I used to scream at the TV for the "adults" present not to encourage the show-off, unfunny kids; but now I just hit the mute button - aah, instant relief!

My favourite ad at the moment is the vet who says "Karen I've a cat here with no pulse" and it turns out to be his assistant's furry hat.
Makes me laugh every time. I should get out more.

I hate these. Kids never say stuff like this without another kid telling them to shut up or an adult eye rolling. Maybe it's made to be deliberately annoying. We're all talking about it.

TheBlackLodge · 09/11/2017 10:33

YADNBU. It makes the kids sound like absolute dimwits.

Report
soupforbrains · 09/11/2017 10:34

Fabellini I can understand that being the case but it's so unnecessary. and SURELY the dubbing is more irritating than god forbid a non-RP accent?!

MyfanwyMontez · 09/11/2017 10:40

I always laugh at that ad too Youth. Perhaps I should get out more too!

crochetmonkey74 · 09/11/2017 10:41

I also hate these, but I also really hate the Haribo ones.
People speaking with mismatched voices is sooo creepy shudder

Report
crochetmonkey74 · 09/11/2017 10:41

Youth that makes me laugh as well-it's the look on the assistant's face

Now I want to see the vet advert!

The only recent add that kindled a glimmer of recognition with me was Dolmio with the well known dramatic actor ( whose name escapes me) monologuing when getting dragged off his games console.
I did laugh at that.

Haribo is ghastly! Not even kids voices - adult voices made squeaky
on Helium to sound funny Angry
Andrex - thought the 'gold pants' one was funny. Not the subsequent ones.

Re muting the TV - I have to do this with the GoCompare ads. I hatehatehate that fat twat and can't stand the singing. My dc laugh and hide the remote so I have to shout loudly to drown out the noise...

I'm afraid I find most adverts a load of patronising drivel. Many of them don't even make any sense, yet we are supposed to swallow this crap whole. Special awards go to Andrex, Haribo, all perfume ads and the annual John Lewis Christmas sobfest. Gah! Humbug

YouthsAStuffWillNotEndure · 09/11/2017 10:54

Yes crochetmoneky74 also the exchange of looks between the vet and the cat at the end!

MyfanwyMontez I also love the one for Flash where the dog sings "Where the hell has all the mud gone?" to the Queen song

Dreadful dreadful advert. The puppies were so much better! Who cares how allegedly clean some random brats bums are?
