My DDs enjoy a game they were given called Pass the Bomb Junior. It’s a kids word game that has a comedy bomb as a timing device - it ticks and you pass it on when you’ve given a correct answer until someone is holding it when it ‘explodes’ it’s just a means to an end for each round of the game. My friend I had over at the weekend thought I was in danger of raising mini terrorists! Who is BU???

Good friends are hard to replace.

Idiots aren't though. I just couldn't be friends with someone so utterly ridiculous.

CatastropheKate · 07/11/2017 23:31

On a more sober note, we were playing Dobble at the airport until one of the kids shouted 'bomb' at which point we let them have their Hudls instead.

DiegoMadonna · 07/11/2017 23:32

Is your friend that same mumsnetter who was worried about her kids singing ooh ee ooh ah ah ting tang walla walla bing bang?

BenLui · 08/11/2017 04:03

Catostrophe I can see that FIRE might also be an issue in a public place with Dobble... Grin

Ilovelampandchair · 08/11/2017 04:05

Your poor friend is a little light on thinking.

brabenot · 08/11/2017 04:42

But is it funny to anyone who has had a friend or relative die from a bomb?

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/11/2017 04:47

My dd loves happy families. She always goes for the kids option and wants several children irl. She’s 9. I’ll come back in 25 years time and tell you if there is a connection. In the meantime, as you were.....

I love pass the bomb btw.

Katedotness1963 · 08/11/2017 04:49

We have that game, it's fun! I'm toying with getting the Christmas version, Pass the Pudding.

brabenot · 08/11/2017 04:55

I don't understand how Pass the bomb can be funny when people, children are being maimed or killed from landmines.

BlueberryIce · 08/11/2017 05:58

Brabenot

Are your children allowed to watch cartoons with violence? Don’t you know how many people die each year in violent attacks?Wink

Seriously, where does it end? Not watching television or reading books, going to the theatre etc because all fo these at times make light of terrible things?

Angrybird345 · 08/11/2017 06:20

How pathetic, what an overreaction.

strawberrisc · 08/11/2017 06:23

One of my absolute favourite childhood toys was my cap gun. My favourite board game was ‘Operation’. To date I have neither shot anybody nor tried to remove anybody’s Adam’s Apple.

I had a t-shirt that said 'I am a bomb technician. If you see me running, try to keep up!!'.
I absolutely love that Grin

tshirtsuntan · 08/11/2017 08:29

I hope not, I use this game as part of speech and language groups at work!

DiegoMadonna · 08/11/2017 09:59

But is it funny to anyone who has had a friend or relative die from a bomb?

Is Buckaroo funny to anyone who has had a friend or relative die or be paralysed while horse riding?

Is Operation funny to anyone who has had a friend or relative die during surgery?

Mummyoflittledragon · 08/11/2017 10:00

tshirt

I bought pass the bomb when I was teaching English in Germany in companies. No one ever felt offended imo. E

NearLifeExperience · 08/11/2017 10:40

That is so ridiculous! Pass the bomb has a silly cartoon type bomb, that you could imagine Wile E Coyote using. It's a word game with a timer, FGS!

KnickerBockerGlooooory · 08/11/2017 22:22

Thanks everyone I feel like I’m good company here. Had a good chuckle at some of the replies Grin

I know what you mean. How can Mousetrap be funny - they're trying to trap a mouse! And Snakes & Ladders could be really stressful to someone who's lost a loved one to a giant anaconda - do people just not think?! And what about Monopoly - a double stresser because some people do go straight to jail in real life and might not be able to afford to keep their home, let alone buy multiple properties. I was going to stick to Happy Families but then I remembered all the families who are really miserable. Now I just sit in a darkened room and wait to die, hoping that I'm not offending someone by refusing to play games with them..... Sad

Ttbb · 09/11/2017 13:13

She's more likely to raise terrorists I think. People become terrorists because they are stupid, not because they played trivia games featuring a fake 'bomb'.
