To be massively annoyed at Amazon prime

So I placed my order and promised delivery today. At 11.43 I got confirmation my order was out for delivery. At 21.42 I got a message saying "we tried to deliver your order but failed. There has been someone at home all day and I have an instruction set to leave in a safe place if not in. So clearly they haven't tried to deliver my order- they just haven't bothered! This is not the first time ive had failed deliveries so I'm paying £80 for "guaranteed" next day delivery on Prime which actually doesn't happen - anyone else had this issue?

It's because couriers get paid for repeat visits.

OnionKnight · 08/11/2017 10:59

In all the years of having Prime I've only had one problem which was fairly recent, the delivery person could not find my house which was bollocks. It was delivered the next day and I complained and got three months free Prime.

Justabadwife · 08/11/2017 10:59

That's super annoying when you knew you were in and no one bothered to deliver. :/
I'm lucky in that as of yet, I haven't had any thing like that happen and I'm rarely at home. They either leave the parcel at work with my mum or put them in my porch (sometimes they leave my brothers in there too)
I love having prime, Dd and DH watch the programmes and I do loads of shopping 🙈🙈

OnionKnight · 08/11/2017 11:01

And yes, not everything via Amazon is delivered next day, it depends on whether you buy it from Amazon or a third party seller, some third party sellers take part in Prime but not all.

Mac12345 · 08/11/2017 11:02

Last week I was waiting for a parcel and had the text saying it had just been delivered while I was sitting on my sofa! So I went down and opened the door and there it was propped up against the wall of my front garden. Anyone could have picked it up, they didn't even bother knocking.

doris9034 · 08/11/2017 11:28

I've contacted Amazon.... that palava could be a whole new thread! Anyhow, during the course of the phone call the story changed from no one being in at time of delivery (obvs a lie!) To them being unable to deliver because the distribution centre was in Luton and my delivery address was another town. Unless I've missed something I'm pretty sure you didn't have to live in the same town as the DC before.......

£80 is the cost of Amazon prime for the year Tippz . What is Amazon's CS number everyone? Because I cant find one!!

GladAllOver · 08/11/2017 11:45

You have to log in to your account and then you will find the customer contact.

YANBU. I get my Amazon deliveries to work because if they come to my house, they try to deliver them during working hours, but guess what?

Despite my house and workplace being listed as home/work, without fail and despite me getting an email at 8/9 am telling me my parcel is out for delivery, they never try to deliver it until the evening.

My workplace is not accessible outside office hours. We have locked gates and no letterbox. I write this on the address box so the courier has no excuse. But at least 50% of the time, they will try and deliver in the evening.

And they will come back with the same parcel day after day despite me going on Amazon chat to tell them this (there is no other way to contact them). I wish I'd known about the 'free month for complaining about missed deliveries'. I'd be up to nearly a year extra by now.

I don't like the TV service either because nearly everything I want to watch costs extra anyway - what is the point. Won't be paying for it again.

TiffanyTurtleFace · 08/11/2017 11:53

What is this Amazon Key? No frigging way would I be letting strangers into my house when I am not there! Shock

GladAllOver · 08/11/2017 12:11

Amazon have their lockers now, they have them at our local railway station. People coming off the train at night collect their parcels on the way home. I haven't used it myself but it seems convenient.

newlabelwriter · 08/11/2017 12:20

Amazon deliveries are rubbish at the moment. I had a card to say that they had left items in a bin and online it said that items had been signed for. Neither true. I spoke to them today and they have guaranteed items to be delivered tomorrow... we'll see. DH also had few items that were meant to arrive next day and haven't

BarbaraofSevillle · 08/11/2017 12:33

They'll probably be using the 'it's Christmas and we're very busy' excuse newlabel. That'll keep em going until the New Year and take them through early Christmas shopping, Black Friday, Christmas shopping and New Year sales if they have them. Don't expect anything to come on time any time in the next three months really.

TriJo · 08/11/2017 12:46

GladAllOver I ended up being told to keep a pair of shoes I was trying to return because I was over a week trying to get a space in the locker across the road from Finsbury Park station to return them...

GladAllOver · 08/11/2017 12:49

I hope they fitted!

MadisonAvenue · 08/11/2017 12:53

I've ordered something to come today via Prime, and it's been stuck on 'preparing for dispatch' since yesterday afternoon. I assumed at first that it just hadn't been updated.

I've just done an online chat with them and there's a technical issue and it's still in the warehouse but it will still be delivered today which I don't believe at all. No notifications of a technical issue on the tracker and the online chat is crap, one minute they say it'll definitely be delivered today and then add that it'll be delivered tomorrow if not. I don't have a safe place or an alternative address for Prime (due to them delivering after office hours) if that's the case.

I've only ever had one problem with them before and that was when a same day delivery item didn't arrive by 10pm and when I checked the tracker it stated that it had been delivered. The courier turned up with it just before 11pm and I got a month's free Prime.

HashiAsLarry · 08/11/2017 12:56

I normally deal with Amazon via their call back option. In fairness the operators on the phones have always been very helpful, more so than chat.

MadisonAvenue · 08/11/2017 13:38

Hashi I'm talking to them now, I'm not getting very far though as he has to keep repeating himself as his speech is not clear. What I do know though is that I've got a month's free Prime.

newlabelwriter · 08/11/2017 13:44

Their live chat is really good too

HashiAsLarry · 08/11/2017 13:50

Oh dear madison. You're not having any luck. Hope it gets sorted soon.

hidengosqueak · 08/11/2017 13:57

Yup I'm up to 2 months extra prime as dd2's birthday gifts due Saturday still haven't arrived

MadisonAvenue · 08/11/2017 13:58

Hashi I'm waiting to see if I can be connected to a manager now. This call has, so far, lasted 31 minutes and I'm still none the wiser as to what's happening. The man on call back can do nothing more than send an email querying it and he says that when he gets a reply he'll get back to me, which is exactly the same thing I was told at 10am with the first online chat that I had with them.

HashiAsLarry · 08/11/2017 14:22

madison I'm going to go out on a limb here and say someone has majorly screwed up somewhere. You may want to hold out for more than a free month of prime. Eek.

MadisonAvenue · 08/11/2017 14:36

I'd definitely say that they've screwed up!
They've added a £10 credit to my account too. I've now got to wait for another call back once the man I've just spoken to (a different one to the one I posted about up there) has had a reply to his email. He said it typically takes 2-3 hours to get a response so he'll get back to me at around 6pm.
What a wasted day!

doris9034 · 08/11/2017 15:14

Ha ha ha ha - my item has just been delivered despite the site still saying it's due for delivery on Friday and getting a refund for it this morning!!
