Thought this might be fun. Grin I'll start.

I'm a property owner - of a derelict, empty bedsit (inherited) with smashed in windows, so much mould that it looks like the walls have been spray painted black and even the squatters don't go near it.

I'm a business owner - of a failing tiny business which barely brings in enough money to buy a food shop every week, and I'm in debt up to my eyeballs.

I live in a detached four bedroomed house in an affluent and desirable area - in a council house. Grin

I own three cars - all of which are old bangers worth a couple of hundred each, and two of them don't work at all, but I don't have the energy to get rid of them.

I have a massive flat screen TV, the latest iPhone and my children have all of the latest gadgets - mostly all on finance from Brighthouse or put on the Argos card I can't afford to pay off.

I have a wardrobe full of designer clothes - from Oxfam.

I own 61 pairs of shoes - from Primark.

I have regular holidays abroad - camping in Europe, paid for by Sun £9 holidays.

I have a university education - in a pointless subject sociology that I've never used.

I drink champagne regularly - from Aldi. Grin

Oh snoozy that does make you count your blessings. Poor wee lad.

I'm very privileged as I have my health, my parents, my dh and dc and a lovely warm place to call home. The rest is just trappings, the real stuff is having people to love and love you in return.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 07/11/2017 18:53

I'm privileged because I have 3 wonderful DC who appear to be happy, healthy and everything I could want. I have a wonderful DH. Life isn't a bed of roses right now, but I have a lot more than a hell of a lot of other people out there.

Should stop feeling sorry for myself really.

VladmirsPoutine · 07/11/2017 18:54

Where's Kate Middleton, she'd have loved this kind of thread. Grin

creepingbuttercupdrivesmemad · 07/11/2017 18:55

I am incredibly privileged.

I had a great, free education and I have a tap that provides me with clean, drinkable water.
Compared to much of the rest of the world I am very, very lucky and try to remember that every day.

ShimmeringBollox · 07/11/2017 18:56

Bet you wish you didn't bother posting now don't you op.
Fwiw I thought you were being " light hearted'

ShimmeringBollox · 07/11/2017 18:56

I am happy to pile in with the others though.
You wanker!!!!!!!

needtowakeup34 · 07/11/2017 18:57

I privileged because I won the lotto.

Winnings: £10

Slimthistime · 07/11/2017 18:57

OP "Thought this might be fun. I'll start"

start what, a car boot sale which starts with the shoes and ends with you saying "please steal this car"?

You sound like you've been drinking a lot of that champagne....

Papergirl1968 · 07/11/2017 18:58

My dds’ old primary school headteacher used to have a poster on her door, basically saying that those of us who have shelter, food, drinking water, etc are among the most wealthy in the world.
No matter how poor some people in Britain are, we are free from persecution (not talking about racism etc, I mean free to pursue religion of our choice), we have the right to a free education for all regardless of gender, we have free healthcare regardless of income. Food is relatively cheap and plentiful. Libraries are a wonderful free resource.
I’d say most people living in Britain today are privileged. I would have said everyone but then thought about children living with abuse and neglect, those with severe disabilities, the homeless etc.
The majority of us are lucky even if it doesn’t always feel like it.

ShimmeringBollox · 07/11/2017 18:59

I am privileged because I have a job I love, although it pays peanuts. (apologies if that offends anyone with allergies)

WonderLime · 07/11/2017 19:02

I am privileged because I bought an octopus Christmas bauble and llama wrapping paper today which absolutely no one will ever need!

Actually I’m feeling smug and privileged!

LolaTheDarkdestroyer · 07/11/2017 19:02

What the what what? You do know your benefits will stop if they find out you have assets worth £20.0000 not so privilediditymidy now are you op!

rosesarered9 · 07/11/2017 19:02

Don't stare into The Sun for too long; you'll go blind.

Blockb · 07/11/2017 19:03

My mind is blown by 61 pairs of shoes, why would anyone need so many!

Gilead · 07/11/2017 19:03

I live in a house that I can't sell until divorce is sorted. I'm paying off last winter's heating bill. The boiler went today. Still, it means I can't run up a heating bill...

SandysMam · 07/11/2017 19:04

I thought your post was quite funny OP...basically you are saying on paper you sound like you have it all, but in reality, you don’t have much! Ignore the haters, it made me chuckle.

WonderLime · 07/11/2017 19:05

My mind is blown by 61 pairs of shoes, why would anyone need so many!

My mind is blown by anyone having 61 pairs of shoes from Primark! They are bloody awful!

Gilead · 07/11/2017 19:08

What the what what? You do know your benefits will stop if they find out you have assets worth £20.0000 not so privilediditymidy now are you op!*
OP hasn't said they're on benefits.

famousfour · 07/11/2017 19:08

My mind is blown by trying to work out where you store your 61 pairs of shoes...

frumpety · 07/11/2017 19:09

I am privileged because I wake up with two arms and legs , two ears and eyes that work , my nose and mouth work , I have very little trouble from my bowels and bladder . I have given birth to three children and we are all still here . I haven't yet been struck down by a number of hideous life limiting illness's . I do not currently have a diagnosis of cancer . So all in all , I reckon I am pretty bloody privileged .

famousfour · 07/11/2017 19:09

Is there a shoe mountain or do you have a shoe wardrobe a la SJP?

schoolgaterebel · 07/11/2017 19:10

Your OP made me laugh, and I as just what I needed to read tonight and was obviously meant in a lighthearted way Grin

toffeepumpkins · 07/11/2017 19:13

I have a roof over my head, food to eat, clothes to wear and cleaning running water. I'm one of the most privileged people in the world.

Magicnumbers · 07/11/2017 19:13

OP, you are massively privileged to have things like a 4 bed council house (speaking as someone with a close relative with children in a bedsit waiting to be housed).

As your post says, you have the latest gadgets and champers...but your income barely buys food? Clearly, getting your debt to more manageable levels is not your priority. Your call, I just think you actually have had a lot more privilege than the tone of your post implies. There are people out there who won't get a council house, and for whom getting a university education is a massive financial burden.

Forgive me, I realise you were being lighthearted about your hidden hardships, but your initial post just made me a little annoyed.

CrocusEater · 07/11/2017 19:14

I also read this as a humorous post with an intentional spelling mistake, but I've had quite a nice day today so that probably helps.
