To leave wee on my bed?

Babyjunglesafari · 07/11/2017 17:48

I’ve got a million things to do this evening and I’m going out in 10 minutes.

My 2 year old toddler has just done a wee on my bed after his bath. His wee isn’t particularly big or smelly, there’s a patch about 5cm.

I’m debating just leaving it there, this is after already changing my bedding twice in as many days after toddler got chocolate and pasta sauce over it, then puked over it.

How disgusting would it be to leave it now until next bed change as frankly I’m done with changing bedding and washing sheets.

I’ve left a small baby wee on my bed sheets before Grin quick baby wipe and it’s all good. Surely it’s the same as wiping baby sick off your shoulder or a bit of stray poo off your leggings Wink

booellesmum · 07/11/2017 19:14

I would have sprayed with detox spray, given it a good run and left it!

Catwithglasses · 07/11/2017 19:14

I'm obviously disgusting: I would leave it as long as it wasn't near where my head would be. Would clean up sick though.

ShoesHaveSouls · 07/11/2017 19:18

I totally would have put a towel on it too. I mean, if it was soaked, then yes best change them - but a tiny dot of toddler wee wouldn't bother me. Well, not my own toddler's anyway...

Babyjunglesafari · 07/11/2017 19:34

Maybe leaving the wee was a bit gross but I am amused at being called unhygienic for getting my clean freshly bathed toddler dressed on my bed.

I remember a particular low point in the early days. Single parent, baby and a 3 year old, and as usual we all ended up in the same bed. I was permanently exhausted at that point. At about 4am I realised that baby's nappy had leaked poo on to the sheets, and we were all lying in it. It was breast milk poo, so not vile but certainly not pleasant. However, both kids were still asleep, so in my exhausted state I decided not to wake them. We all slept another couple of hours in poo. God those days were hard!!

Mintychoc1 · 07/11/2017 19:39

I did clean it all in the morning obviously!

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 07/11/2017 19:39

Suggest you leave the child on the floor in future.

Babyjunglesafari · 07/11/2017 19:42

Leave him on the floor?

To be honest wee on my bed is preferable to wee on the carpet.

Anyway kids wet the bed, kids get sick, kids get mucky. It was only the fact I’d already changed the bed twice I simply couldn’t be bothered a third time.

I like that idea @user1471459936. Still leaves the problem of drying double bed sheets though. We don’t have a dryer and it’s not good enough weather to dry outside much at this time of year. I also think I’d have to get bigger sheets as mine barely reach the bottom of the mattress as it is.

I guess I must be failing at parenthood though as I’m always changing nappies on the bed (with a mat). Definitely not going crawl about on the floor in the night doing it!

Totally agree @fannythrobbing. No muslin to hand? My tshirt will do to wipe baby’s face. Small vomits are wiped off clothes and we carry on. Small vomits on the bed? Muslin or towel down and back to sleep!

In order to be ‘hygienic’ and not ‘grim’ I’d have to either lose sleep or time with my baby and I’m not willing to give up either!

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 07/11/2017 19:43

On a waterproof mat obviously!

camelfinger · 07/11/2017 19:44

I would have left it. 5cm I’d probably not even notice.

TroubledTribble28 · 07/11/2017 19:45

This place is obsessed with putting babies on floors. Buses, bus stops, bedroom floors ... yeah because that's so hygienic for a baby Hmm

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 07/11/2017 19:46

Better than messing up beds!

Regressionconfession · 07/11/2017 19:47

I’d have bunged a towel on top and left if.

helpfulperson · 07/11/2017 19:47

leaving it is one of those things I would do but probably not admit to :-)

Pumperthepumper · 07/11/2017 19:49

I'm another who would have left it, or at best given it a scrub with fairy liquid or similar. 🍷 to the rest of you slatterns

BigSandyBalls2015 · 07/11/2017 19:50

Minty bless you 😂.
Some very upright peeps on here, it's a tiny amount of toddler pee FFS!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 07/11/2017 19:50

Uptight!

Regressionconfession · 07/11/2017 19:50

Steeley113 stray legging poo

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 07/11/2017 19:52

Get a waterproof mattress protector OP.

HopelesslydevotedtoGu · 07/11/2017 19:52

I would have left it, as long as it wasn't going to soak into the mattress. We have a thick cotton bed protector so the mattress would be ok. If it might have soaked into mattress I would have changed it.

I remember a low period when co sleeping baby had vomiting bug overnight, I put a towel under her overnight and whenever she vomited I just changed the towel as most of it landed on the towel not our sheet. Grim but I was shattered and didn't want to change sheets several times overnight with baby screaming, this way we all got back to sleep quickly! Dh was pretty disgusted and went to sleep in the spare room!

lostfrequencies · 07/11/2017 19:55

Well I must be disgusting too because I probably would have left it..

Babyjunglesafari · 07/11/2017 19:57

On my bed I’ve got a waterproof cover (for times like this). Then a thick mattress protector then my normal bed sheet.

The reason I didn’t immediately get the sheet off is I know the mattress will be fine, and changing the sheet meant the other bits would need doing, and they’re a mare to wash.
