Where in earth is "Santa" going to find this??

My DS is 6 years old and has requested a big house for his "guys" to live in (zomlings, star monsters, grossery gang etc). He doesn't really want much else in particular and he's had a hard time of things recently so I'd really like to get him what he wants for Christmas. I told him I'd see if I could find one to show Santa and he told me I don't need to look for anything because Santa can build any toy in the world!
Where the hell do I find a big house for little collectibles that isn't a normal dolls house?? Why can't he just want lego?? Confused

Could you not still get a bookcase and then drill some holes in and have the hamster cage coming out?. I’m not good at DIY so don’t know if it would work.

I also really want a hamster now because the houses are amazing!.

You may have a local handyman who could stick a few hamster pods to a wooden house for you if budget allows? By the way since youre in small animal territory already, you can get some house shaped rabbit hutches as well Grin

This is the very best of Mumsnet. Hope you find what you're looking for OP 😀

If you like the hamster tubes what about combining with marble runs to make it bigger:

What about the turtle lair? A friends little boy was playing with his at the weekend, but not with turtles he had some other little figures/creatures on it.

this marble run and the hamster cages would make something amazing! Maybe also some hot wheels loop track?

"for his "guys" to live in (zomlings, star monsters, grossery gang etc)"

Costs a fortune, but here's a Monster Mansion

ooh this is the one. Get someone who can do woodwork to make this:

amazing for big kids

the price tag is ridiculous, especiall because you have to build it and decorate it. No thanks!

OP,

Nothing useful to add to everyone's brilliant ideas...just wanted to say how sorry (in fact, bloody angry) I am that your DS has been the target of bullies.

Really hope the situation has improved, and that he has the best Christmas possible. Good luck with creating the ideal home for his "guys". Smile

A total stealth boast here so apologies in advance! My amazing FIL made this for my son for his Grossery Gang. Not very helpful for you, but the plastic boxes were from B&am i think!

I think the kallax unit from IKEA or similar combined with the hamster runs could give such a good real life version of his poster. Hopefully a handyman or handy friend could cut the odd hole in the unit for the hamster tunnels and you could add pattern to the unit sides by sticking wallpaper/posters etc.

I hope that the bullies who’ve made him worried about being ‘babyish’ etc get a lump of coal for Christmas.

BlueberryIce · 07/11/2017 01:03

I agree about a Ikea Kallax or maybe even a tall thin Ikea Billy. You could get them in black.

Or, 2 wooden CD towers with the hamster cage tubes between and stickers on? Might be hard to make it look good though.

shakingmyhead1 · 07/11/2017 02:16

get one of those ikea book shelves with the cubbies and decorate each cubbie with a different theme, print stuff off the net and glue on the walls, wall paper with some scrapbooking paper, a few photos and a dolls chair or two, i did that with my bookcase for my barbies when i was a kid
