With to be shitty with the stylist and the real estate agent?

I have just paid nearly 9 Grand to have a stylist "do" my late mother's house prior to sale. She told us what furniture she wanted to keep, and what had to go into storage. I had to empty the place by myself and while doing so I noticed that under a cabinet, where the light hadn't reached the floor, it was about five shades lighter than the rest of the room. I sent photos to the agent and was assured that the stylist would sort it out.

Please see attached photos... Don't you think it sticks out like dog's balls? I would be embarrassed about this "solution" and would have put down a longer, bigger pot or something. How dare they say that it's "sorted"!!!

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t eat stuff in season. I think it is part of the rhythm of life in Australia.
When you talk about Australia being expensive, isn’t that partly due to the drop in the pound after the Brexit decision?
Do agree that there is still a faint sense that Australia is a sunny cheap spot for Brits to have an easier life. A hangover from the immigration ads form the 50s and 60s.

That picture at 05-Nov-17 07:53:38 is just screaming

"hiding something"

Saffron - not really. I worked out when I moved her that the exchange rate that would be required for things to roughly equate in price is about 2.5AU$ :1£. That doesn't work for everything but is a good guide for e.g. white goods. OF course the exchange rate is currently NOT 2.5AU$: 1£, far from it - so if you price compare across the 2 countries, things are, in general, more expensive here than in the UK.

And yes, it always staggers me that I can pay less for a bottle of Aussie wine in Tesco than I can in any store in Australia!

The wine pricing is indeed a mystery.

Surely product dumping is a common practice in international trade?

On a smaller scale, a friend of mine, just returned from Italy, said she could buy tinned (as in processed in Italy) Italian Roma tomatoes cheaper at her local grocery store than she could in Italy.

I think you will find that it is our staggeringly high taxes on alcohol that ensure that prices here are much dearer than UK and Europe.

How are you going with parquetgate, OP?

TakeMe2Insanity · 09/11/2017 05:47

That is such a beautiful house OP, it will be snapped up in no time.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 09/11/2017 06:58

I think you're right, Justilou - the price of a bottle of Pimms here is upsetting too! Grin

Moose23ishungry · 09/11/2017 09:37

I wish I could buy that house from you. We want to buy in brissie for when our kids start school. I wouldn't care about the floor - but it's probably worth as much as my London terrace!

justilou1 · 09/11/2017 23:16

This was the solution. Not perfect, but at least the bloody floor's not visible. I am exhausted after all of this!!!

That looks heaps better! Hope you get a good price for it when it sells.

Massive improvement on the bath mat/random chair where no one would sit combo!
