Any suggestions re dds party

Posting for traffic. But I'm in a mess. I'm hosting a film party tomorrow for dd and her friends. They're 9 & 10 years old.
What can they watch? It needs to be about 1.5hrs long, engaging, funny and appropriate for their age.
Any suggestions!!? Help!

@MarmaladeIsMyJam

I would of watched them all first to check they were suitable for her but I don’t think any are over 12. I guess it depends on the child not just the age, there’s no way I would let my 7 year old watch older rated films as he is much more sensitive and innocent.

pinkliquorice · 04/11/2017 18:18

If you consider anything over PG though I guess it’s a good idea to check with the parents first.
( I think I may have probably show my DD’s friends 12s before without checking with their parents so from this thread I have learnt to be more careful)

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 04/11/2017 18:25

Pink the majority of those films are a 12, I think only 2 are actually a PG. I only know this because I have 2 older girls!

Hello1290 · 04/11/2017 18:30

Mrs Doubtfire - I think it's a PG rating.

MadMags · 04/11/2017 18:33

Descendants is a good one.

Step Up.

Mirror Mirror.

The live action Cinderella or Beauty & The Beast.

What rating is Legally Blonde?!

spidereye · 04/11/2017 18:37

DD loved Alice in Wonderland at that age (the Helena Bonham Carter one) Also, Nativity was a favourite, if they fancy getting into the Christmas spirit

NoSquirrels · 04/11/2017 18:38

What does DD want to watch? Hasn't she discussed it with her friends?

MrsKnightley · 04/11/2017 18:38

Groundhog Day

yikesanotherbooboo · 04/11/2017 18:40

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

MadMags · 04/11/2017 18:45

Thanks Anne

@MarmaladeIsMyJam

Oops I did mean to say I don’t think there is anything over PG or 12.
Some 12s I see suitable, some not, as I said it defiantly depends on the child, the age rating is only a recommendation not a rule.

eyebrowsonfleek · 04/11/2017 19:09

The Olden twin movies (eg New York Minute)
Hairspray (Zac Effron version)
The Lizzie Maguire Movie
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Princess Bride
High School Musical (1 or 2. 3 is the weakest)
Camp Rock
The Princess Diaries (or one of the sequels)
Back to the Future
Ballet Shoes (with Emma Watson)
Nanny McPhee (or the sequel)
Freaky Friday (Lindsay Lohan version)

eyebrowsonfleek · 04/11/2017 19:10

Maleficent is surprisingly good

eyebrowsonfleek · 04/11/2017 19:11

A Cinderella Story - think Selena Gomez is in a sequel?

CheerfulMuddler · 04/11/2017 19:31

The new Ghostbusters.

MumW · 04/11/2017 19:40

If they know the songs, then Mama Mia possibly sing along versions
Inside Out

Have you asked them? They may have some ideas themselves.

fairygarden · 04/11/2017 19:43

School of rock gets my vote

CupofBeans · 04/11/2017 20:04

My 9 year old dd suggested miss peregrine's home for peculiar children or goosebumps

ferriswheel · 04/11/2017 20:18

I would stick with a pg. There are plenty and people love complaininh. Don't give them the chance to.

TeenTimesTwo · 04/11/2017 20:28

people love complaininh

Too right I'll complain if another parent decides to show my DDs an over-age film without asking first! That is not another parent's call, it is my call. It is totally unnecessary.

choccybiscuit · 04/11/2017 20:36

Boss baby
