Can't take it anymore

Perry I can imagine, and of course it varies area to area.

Unless the OP has actually asked, and comes back to tell us they have asked or not, then I think we've come to the end of the helpful suggestions!

ThrushyFanjo · 04/11/2017 11:09

Can't talk to the neighbours about it, they're druggies and rough as fuck, always throwing me dirty looks. Moving not an option at the moment

How awful op. We live near a courtyard development where a couple left their dog all day and it barked and howled continually. One of the neighbours in the courtyard asked me if I could hear it, which was unusual as they are not nice and don't give our family the time of day.

Next thing is I get a visit from agitated neighbour asking me if I had reported her to the council. I had not and it was clear I had been set up the other neighbour. She shouted at me and said her dog did not bark all the time.

I told her I had absolutely not reported her, it was clear she wanted it to be me but it was a whole lot closer to home (ie next door). I also asked the stupid woman how she could possibly know her dog did not bark if she was out all day.

She then went round shouting at my other neighbour refusing to believe her ndn had reported her!

I had you get a better response than this.

Tell the council. This is intolerable.

PovertyPain · 04/11/2017 11:21

I wonder if you get some speakers, turn them to the wall and play some classical music, would it help, as it might prevent them from hearing you? You don't have to play it to the point of being loud for your neighbours, that would create more problem, but just so the dogs hear it, rather than you. I play classical music in my dog/mud room, so that the dogs aren't distracted by outside noises.

Mittens1969 · 04/11/2017 11:21

That’s awful, OP. I would report them as clearly talking to your neighbours clearly isn’t an option.

pinkliquorice · 04/11/2017 11:28

I couldn’t live with that, you need to be reporting this to someone, if your sure their ‘druggies’ and are most probably not looking after their dogs that even police or animal rescue could be an option, if not local council.
We have 4 dogs but they are not barkers and we have enough land for them, I can’t imagine your next door neighbours have enough space or land for 5 dogs or are walking and training them properly if they are barking that much.
Must be animal abuse, but definitely neighbour abuse!

PompholyxOfUnknownOrigin · 04/11/2017 11:29

I’m so sorry for you. We have the same problem but it’s only one dog and the owners aren’t druggies, just selfish arseholes.

ibentmywookie · 04/11/2017 11:29

Report it to the council. I’ve had problems with my neighbour, who works night shifts, leaving his dog outside all day to bark. The council have taken him to court twice now.

Bowsprite · 04/11/2017 11:35

My local council has a Dog Warden and he deals with constantly barking dog issues. I reported the problem. He went to speak to the neighbour. I then kept a diary of how often the dog barked after he had spoken to the neighbour. He then contacted me a couple of times during the next 2 months and the problem was resolved.

happypoobum · 04/11/2017 11:39

I suspect the council will come straight out if OP tells them about her neighbours fucking five dogs Grin

Seriously, if they aren't constant barks but are barking in response to triggers, annoying though it is, I doubt you will get very far Sad

You will just have to count down the days until you can move.

In the meantime, try to develop strategies for minimising both the cause and effect. Playing music/keep tv on as PP suggested is a good idea as it will muffle the trigger noises. Place furniture against the party wall as that may absorb some of the noise.

Try not to shout at each other from another room my pet hate if you know it causes barking.

I hope you can get away from it soon Flowers

underkerstumbled · 04/11/2017 11:42

I feel your pain. we have similar.
However, cheer up and look on the bright side - it could be worse. You could be having to put up with YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP YAP all sodding day.

A bird flies past the window YAPYAPYAPYAPYAP
A snail munches a leaf YAPYAPYAPYAPYAP
NDN goes out YAPYAPYAPYAP WOOOOOOOOOO YAPYAP WOOOOOOO for hours on end until they get back.

adCampaign · 04/11/2017 11:52

Beastiality is illegal. No wonder the poor dogs are barking!

CuppaSarah · 04/11/2017 12:02

I thought this was going to be about How I Met Your Mother.

Though I always felt for Robins neighbours, imagine leaving five dogs alone all day and night.

kierenthecommunity · 04/11/2017 13:12

Is it a council property? Only most LAs have a restriction of two pets for their tenants

GinSoddenWhore · 04/11/2017 13:16

You have to get onto the council and they'll make you keep a diary logging the noise before they'll do anything. We've just moved house due to this, our previous neighbours have nine dogs. It was torture.
