I'm fed up with not being able to find suitable eye shadows and could really use some recommendations.

I'm looking for neutral colours (browns, greys etc) but I also quite like the odd purple and pink (I'm just so crazy these daysWink) I want something that blends well, lasts and isn't full of shimmer. It seems almost impossible to find genuinely matte eyeshadow these days. Every pallet seems to be full of glittery shades. Don't get me wrong; I love a bit of glitter. I'm pushing 39 though, so really could do with some more restrained shades as well Smile

Kiko all the way!

I love Makeup Geek eyeshadows. You buy them as singles and make up your own palette as you go. Really good quality and pigmentation, they blend really well. You get them from beauty bay in the uk.

The bare minerals 5in1 cream eyeshadow blends beautifully. It's my absolute fave. Smoky espresso is a lovely grey.

Rebeccaslicker · 04/11/2017 09:58

Estee Lauder do a nice matt velvety one that doesn't crease. I have a duo that's a sort of pinky brown and a darker aubergine to go in the crease/corner/smudge a bit underneath lower lid which is lovely.

If you like creamier ones, the only ones I've found that don't settle into creases in 5 minutes flat are Chanel.

Yes yes to morphe, abh and urban decay. Debenhams have a 15% off sale at the moment but it finishes tomorrow so go for a look on there.

2littlemoos · 04/11/2017 10:03

Morphe Brushes eyeshadow palettes are amazing. Great value too. I buy mine from Beauty Bay and they have quite a range on there; such as "taupe" "coffee" "nature glow" etc. Take a look!

isthismummy I’m 37 and still love some Urban Decay sparkle! I’ve got so many UD palettes, it’s ridiculous

Ktown · 04/11/2017 10:29

You can put together your own eyeshadow combinations with Mac.
Coquette is a nice neutral and I like satin taupe.
The John Lewis website is good for this.
They have a lot of cool neutrals without sparkle.

If you wanted to choose between abh and huda I would choose abh - easier to blend and less fall out. I have the prism and renaissance. Subculture has a few faults with it (too chalky) so didn't do as well.

NYX (Boots)
Makeup Revolution (Superdrug)
Morphe
Mac
Huda
Anastasia of Beverly Hills
Tarte

Zoeva has some lovely palettes too. I like their textures. I also rate the Tarte Matte Palette. The first two Rainforest of the Sea Palettes are beautiful neutrals that have a mix of mattes and a low-grade shimmer that is barely noticeable and the textures are gorgeous.

catlover1987 · 04/11/2017 13:31

I have urban decay naked 2, and I love the colours, but I find there is quite a lot of fall out from them and they always end up over my face. For the more glittery shades, I wet my brush first which definitely helps.

Jermajesty · 04/11/2017 13:35

I just got Urban Decay Naked Smokey - it’s fab : www.johnlewis.com/urban-decay-naked-smoky-palette/p2059062

TheMasterNotMargarita · 04/11/2017 17:37

@catlover1987 I found using the eyeshadow primer really helped too.

PookieSnackenberger · 04/11/2017 17:46

Urban Decay Basics. Gorgeous matte colours that never crease and apply smoothly. I got this for Christmas last year, use it every day, and I've hardly made an impact on it. My favourite shade is only half used so it will last another year.

Mollie85 · 04/11/2017 19:32

I adore the Too Faced Natural Love palette. Lovely natural colours but will easily take you to night time too... Grin

Plus their packaging is gorgeous. I’m 36 and still like some shimmer btw

Makeup Geek. Hands down the best eyeshadows I've ever used, and I have everything from MAC to urban decay to makeup revolution

Have a look at the Mac Dusty Rose x 9. It’s a lovely mix of neutrals - matte and shimmer. I discovered it about a ye who and fell in love. (I’m 42 by the way so was weary of anything too shimmery)
