TO NOT WANT FUCKING AMAZON PRIME?

herecomesthsun · 02/11/2017 20:46

I did not even click for it! And it appears impossible to unsubscribe!

This happened a couple of years ago and I eventually found a phone number that worked, but, hey, it was a lot of work and why should I have to go to a load of trouble?

I do not want FUCKING FUCKING Amazon Prime, I do not want it in a boat, I do not want it on a train, I do not want it in the rain...
Angry

And yes yes it is my fault for using Amazon, maybe I should give up Amazon.

We signed up for a free trial....then kept it as we discovered Outlander 😁

falls · 03/11/2017 10:16

I love prime! But i signed up for amazon music unlimited and kindle unlimited.... trying to find the link to cancel them was difficult. But it still only took me a couple of minutes.

sinceyouask · 03/11/2017 10:17

It's easy to cancel Prime.

hiphopcat · 03/11/2017 12:29

Don't blame you. Netflix is WAY better. Grin

MissionItsPossible · 03/11/2017 12:35

Has It changed or something Confused I got a Thirty day free trial, set a phone alert on my Phone for day twenty nine, logged into my account and clicked unsubscribe. It took three minutes. If you forgot that's your own fault (haven't RTFT so sorry if there's more to it than this)

Auldspinster · 03/11/2017 12:46

I also encounter this every day in my job. If they give you any grief, call the number on the back of your debit card and ask for Retailer disputes who can advise.

Taylia · 03/11/2017 14:41

We did want a household account until it looked like you could see everything the other party was buying, and had to use the same payment details. We didn't want that, so we decided not to bother

I have prime and I've added DH to the household account. We pay separately on different cards and neither can see what the other has bought.....

StatueInTheSky · 03/11/2017 14:52

you can separate accounts in household, but the music thing is account holder only so that's why dh sees all my stuff.

Ohyesiam · 03/11/2017 17:50

I think I unsubscribed by clicking " end membership " in my account.

treeofhearts · 03/11/2017 18:32

I really can't see what's so difficult. It takes about 3 clicks to end prime and 2 clicks to get them on the phone. You don't even call them, they call you!

CaptainHammer · 03/11/2017 18:42

@missionitspossible, you don’t even have to set a reminder. Once you start your free trial you can cancel it straight away. You still get the free month but it won’t subscribe you/take any money.

herecomesthsun · 03/11/2017 20:07

Hi again.

I think it may be that the unsubscribe buttons don't appear on the left hand side of the account managing screen till you have been logged onto the system by Amazon and there was a delay with this.

I eventually found a contact email though and they kindly cancelled Prime within a few hours.

My grouse is

  1. the sneaky way they sign you up by the way they position links when you are trying to pay for goods
  2. then it is a good deal more difficult than it should be to find customer services.

I might be more minded to consider Prime if there wasn't all the dodgy subterfuge going on.

The only thing that annoys me is it costs only €20 in Italy vs £69 here

Have you seen what Amazon prime Italy gets you? A tiny fraction of what you get with uk prime - there is a reason for the difference in price!

treeofhearts · 04/11/2017 10:02

See number 2 is what I don't get? You literally Log in to your account, scroll down to the bottom of the screen, click customer service, contact us, select your problem and then click the button that says call me.

OnionKnight · 04/11/2017 10:41

If someone can't successfully unsubscribe from Amazon Prime then there is a problem between the keyboard and the chair.

When you take out the free trial they even tell you that you'll be charged the full amount at the end unless you cancel it, it's hardly their fault if you don't read anything.

OhGodWhatTheHellNow · 04/11/2017 11:05

I've had the free trial twice, unsubscribing after the month, it's offering me another free trial now but I'll save it until closer to Christmas! I don't want the other stuff but the free next-day delivery has been a lifesaver!

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 04/11/2017 11:21

Sorry but it clearly tells you that you are signing up for prime. You can hopefully see it on the screenshot I've added.

And even easier to cancel. Someone will do it in chat for you if you don't want to call.

Also to the person who is trying to close their account down. An account is closed very quickly so if your account is hacked the only reason for it to remain open is because Amazon are trying to get you refunded.

Also it is free click to call phone calls with Amazon too so not sure why you are ringing a premium number.

No one signs you up for Amazon prime without your knowledge. You might not understand what you have done but Amazon signposts it the whole way and emails you to confirm5you are signed up so ignorance is no excuse.

Also not sure why the person who took the free trial thinks they are getting over on Amazon by using the free trial. THEY WANT YOU TO USE THE TRIAL!!

TO NOT WANT FUCKING AMAZON PRIME?
Oly5 · 04/11/2017 11:24

The way they trick you into it on delivery is indeed fucking annoying.
Unsubscribe as people say by going into your account and clicking unsubscribe

Rawhh · 04/11/2017 11:24

I unsubscribed via there mobile website last night and it was a piece of piss.

MaroonPencil · 04/11/2017 14:52

SnipSnip that isnt the only way they do it. Yes that one is relatively easy to avoid but I had another one come up, I can't remember exactly what it was but it was right at the last minute, a kind of "oh by the way, how about reconsidering Prime" in a place where you would usually expect a different button. I would not gave fallen for the one you show.

nowwheredidmyunicorngo · 04/11/2017 14:53

This happened to me. I think my daughter clicked something on her tablet. I went on to the my account part of the Amazon web site and it was easy to unsubscribe.

Netflix is much much better imo

PuppyMonkey · 04/11/2017 15:04

I've avoided Amazon for a while now because while you used to be able to click Free Delivery on loads of stuff, now the only way you seem to be able to get Free Delivery is by also signing up for Prime. Been using Ebay instead these days, much easier.

lettuceWrap · 04/11/2017 15:49

YABU, I love Amazon Prime. There’s no way I’m hitting that unsubscribe button Grin

Mind you, I live rurally in scotland (about an hours drive from Amazon’s massive Dunfermline warehouse),
And it’s cheaper and easier (and sometimes faster!) to order on prime than drive to town and pay parking charges, and look through several shops to try and get what I want. I can often order “fulfilled by Amazon” items at 7 or 8pm and have them delivered the next day!

I was Envy that student DS was in city with Amazon Now (same day delivery!!), no chance of getting that here.

Bluelonerose · 04/11/2017 15:54

It's automatic renewal too which pisses me off. Apparently it's in their terms and conditions Hmm

Neverender · 04/11/2017 15:55

They took my annual membership money on my last 2 weeks of maternity leave - it was my fault really for not realising.

Called them and explained I simply could not afford it at the current time and they were so good, instant refund.
