Tiny thought crossed my mind before I left the house this morning.

I have virtually no very small boobs and recently decided to ditch the wired, padded fandangos and get myself so lovely comfy cloth triangle things. I love them. Noticed this morning despite wearing the bra and a shirt and a jumper, my nipples are very viable (probably because it's bollocking freezing here).

I sort of shrugged to myself and left the house but just out of idle curiosity does it bother anybody if their nips are on show as they go about their business?

Thinking about it the tabloids make the most awful fuss about people "going braless" but I can't quite make out why they think it's interesting or what they're implying.

Back in the 70s having your nips on show was essential along with your halter neck dress.
I remember at a party me and my friend keeping spoons in the fridge so we could “ encourage” them if they had gone a bit shy.
I think it looks fine if you are confident enough and they re pointing in the right direction.

IHeartDodo · 01/11/2017 15:11

Sick of other people's opinions on 'decency' determining what women get to wear
I think that's slightly unfair... personally I feel the same about men's nipples...

Jux · 01/11/2017 15:11

Going braless is too cold for me!

ravenmum · 01/11/2017 15:15

Men also notice how big your bum is, whether you have big boobs and shapely legs. Still don't go out wearing padding to hide my body shape though.

OldPony · 01/11/2017 15:15

I get 'you've been smuggling peanuts?'

frieda909 · 01/11/2017 15:15

I have fairly big boobs (E cups) and recently stopped wearing ‘proper’ bras as I’d been finding them increasingly uncomfortable. I was suffering with constant upper back/chest pain for over a year which seriously freaked me out but I’ve now realised it was all down to the tight underwired bras I’d been wearing. I’ve started wearing these thin stretchy crop top/sports bra things instead, and oh my word the difference... but unfortunately yes, my nipples do show Sad

I find myself feeling very self conscious about it too. I might experiment with some sort of padding in the top to act as a buffer! I’m reeeeeally reluctant to go back to proper bras so I’m trying to just get over it but it does feel quite embarrassing.

RebornSlippy · 01/11/2017 15:19

I'd assume you were an exhibisionist or weren't aware. I have differing opinions of both types of person. Athough, I'm sure you're not too bothered what they are, so I'll keep them to myself!

Anyway, for me, no, I wouldn't go out with my nips on display.

ReanimatedSGB · 01/11/2017 15:22

I hardly ever wear bras as I don't like them. I neither know nor care if other people can see my nipples through a layer of fabric... though. thinking about it, the answer is 'probably not' as my nips are inverted and generally stay that way unless it's really cold - in which case i would be wearing a jumper or coat anyway.

ReanimatedSGB · 01/11/2017 15:26

Also, with any discussion about bras, it's important to remember that tit sizes and nipples vary a lot. What matters is not what other people do, but what feels comfortable (physically or mentally) for you. Other people's opinions are completely unimportant.

MinervaSaidThar · 01/11/2017 15:27

I get these types in my local market 3 for £10. Super comfy and no one can see my nips, even in the white and nude ones.

hellsbellsmelons · 01/11/2017 15:29

I go bra-less when on holiday.
I get looks and some comments (I'm not bad for my age so take the compliments) but it doesn't bother me.
In this weather though, it's padded bra's all the way.

GhostlyKiwi · 01/11/2017 15:29

I've worn padded bras ever since a man looked at my chest and asked me if it was cold outside (it was).

But I don't care if I see someone else's nipples. Their body, up to them how they dress it.

Briette · 01/11/2017 15:30

I notice it when I can see it on other women, but I don't care. Everyone has them! To be honest even with the industrial winch system my gigantic boobs require it's possible for some nipple visibility with the right weather/clothing combinations and it's just how things are. I envy your new underwear strategy, by the way.

lemonzest123 · 01/11/2017 15:31

reanimated If people's opinions are that I'm unprofessional and attention seeking I do care a bit now. Not sure if enough to go back to padding though...

Yes! Morphene said it perfectly.

also Frieda what bra things are you wearing and where are you getting them from? I am also larger of bust and have recently reached the end of my tether with sodding underwires and would love to know what you've found.

Needadvicetoleave · 01/11/2017 15:36

I notice but it doesn't bother me. I also don't do it myself. I could go braless but wear padded bras as I prefer the shape and nipple coverage it gives, not because I want them to appear larger.

PineappleSnapple · 01/11/2017 15:40

I wouldn't notice myself because I can't be bothered to look at people. But I probably wouldn't have the nips out in the cold weather.

BulletFox · 01/11/2017 15:51

My mother made me laugh a few months ago, I'd bought a white halterneck cotton top for summer but the nips showed.

I complained about this and she said 'well isn't that the fashion? Don't all the girls do that?' and i said 'well I don't know, I'm not looking!'

I bought one of those stick on nude bras so they cover up the peanut effect.

This is reminding me of those internet photos of lavinia woodward near a boat Grin

NotAgainYoda · 01/11/2017 15:55

I'd notice and I wouldn't do it

Charlie Dimmock used to go braless on the telly and it was very distracting

AngelaTwerkel · 01/11/2017 15:56

"Attention seeking" Hmm God forbid women draw attention to themselves!

I can't say I have ever noticed anyone's nipples, let alone found them "distracting". But then I'm not a prude.

NotAgainYoda · 01/11/2017 15:57

I don't like seeing men's nipples either

NotAgainYoda · 01/11/2017 16:02

I don't want to see men's feet either

Eeeurgh

GherkinSnatch · 01/11/2017 16:03

or maybe like a pp it's a hangover from people taking the piss at school.

Yeah that's what it is for me. I remember getting home in tears after a non-uniform day (so wearing a t-shirt that clung to my boobs more than a school shirt did) and being called "Gherkin Stiff-Nips" all day/chanted at me on the bus home (thanks to a particular wanker in my year).

There's also the issue that, being larger of nork, non-padded bras don't reshape them while supporting them and being called "droopy" at school by a crowd of boys who were fans of Jordan/Page3 wasn't fun. I'm still not over it 12 years later.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 01/11/2017 16:12

RebornSlippy you'd think they were an exhibitionist or unaware?! Confused

Wowee. For being completely clothed but unable to control the prominence of your nipples is being an exhibitionist.

Unbelievable.

Andylion · 01/11/2017 16:18

I've worn padded bras ever since a man looked at my chest and asked me if it was cold outside (it was).

The proper response to that is to look at his crotch and say, "Clearly!" Wink
