To ask about pubic hair removal?

I’m quite new here not sure where to post this so feel free to move the post.

I just wonder if you remove your pink hair how do you do it? Shaving is making me so sore and itchy, hair removal cream doesn’t seem to work too well, Home waxing kit was pointless and pretty much just took my skin off (ouch!)

Is a proper wax the only way?

Any tips or tricks?

Thank Smile

Tweezers. One hair at a time. Takes all day but leaves a lovely smooth finish.

Alternatively, douse in vodka and set on fire - quick and easy, but leaves an acrid smell

@Ecclesiastes afraid you will have to wrestle my Lumea and razor from me, there shall be no voluntary surrender

My DH actually preferred it before I started to have it all taken off, before the obligatory comments about how sad it is that women remove their pubic hair to please men and they're glad their partners don't want them to look like prepubescent girls etc

He was a bit forlorn when I first came back from the salon with a Brazilian - but funnily enough as I don't groom myself for his approval, he respects the fact it's my body to do with whatever I please, and he fancies me whatever I do or don't do with the hair on my head or elsewhere (or my clothes, makeup etc)

I just really like the feel of it all off down there. Different strokes for different folks, innit.

Indeed Karlos and I'm making the point that women can do as they wish with their body hair without being held up to ridicule. This is a long-standing topic on mumsnet and it is ALWAYS the women who don't remove their hair who feel they have the right to comment on women who do.

Not a single woman who removes her pubic hair has made any kind of similar disparaging comment at those who do not. Because there is no reason to and it shouldn't be made to be a 'them and us' scenario. Because that would be pathetic, wouldn't it.

I pluck by hand and shave underneath Blush

Voice0fReason · 31/10/2017 22:33

I trim with an electric razor first.
Then soak in the bath.
Use a shaving oil of some kind - I've used olive oil before, I use a silicone lube (Lovehoney) now.
A good quality blade (I use Venus)
And contrary to the general advice here, shave against the hair growth.
It gives a really smooth finish that doesn't itch and it feels fabulous.
It lasts a couple of days before any regrowth - not as long as waxing, but I'm a wuss!

Hurleygirl123 · 31/10/2017 22:34

It's a personal choice, I shave in direction of growth, have to assume some funny positions tho! Great razors delivered every month by ffs....totally brilliant! Grin

Graphista · 31/10/2017 22:41

Personal choice whether to or not and I dislike those posters who try to enforce their views on others.

I shave, I use Gillette blue 2, women's razors are shit and more expensive, a moisturising shower cream and then after (essential) nice lotion on the ahem area.

If you do go for a professional wax id recommend going to one that exclusively does intimate waxing. I have had some rubbish experiences at normal salons who say they offer Brazilians/Hollywoods etc. For example, at one I paid for the whole 9 yards but was given little more than a 'high bikini' wax by an obviously embarrassed and inexperienced young therapist. Have never had a good one at a general salon tbh.
I am sure you know this but a proper Hollywood means getting your keks off and getting into some pretty undignified positions Grin
An experienced intimate waxer will make sure you feel entirely relaxed about the whole thing and I was surprised how easy it is to chat along with someone whilst they get on with their job. It does hurt, especially the first time but not too awful and it gets infinitely better if you keep regular appointments.
I sometimes have a fully Hollywood and sometimes let it all grow out (am blessed with very luxuriant growth so it is quite a contrast!) On balance I think I prefer being hairless. Like a pp said, no loo paper getting stuck and just feels more hygienic. As well as being more sensual in my experience.
I used to judge women who removed their pubic hair as being slaves to fashion/men's desires but have changed my mind since doing it myself. Definitely not something I do for men, in my experience many of them seem to prefer the natural state anyway.

upaladderagain · 31/10/2017 22:56

Why would you want a foof like a five year old? Just trim around the edges so you don’t get a fringe round your pants and look like a grown woman.

pullingmyhairout1 · 31/10/2017 22:56

Lady shave here. No itching at all and no ingrowns so far!

KatherinaMinola · 31/10/2017 22:59

Weird - this is the second pubic hair thread of the day...

Ojoj1974 · 31/10/2017 22:59

I use a phillips bikini trimmer. It’s great, no kngriwing hairs, itching, rashes etc. I also use Veet occasionally

PhoenixMama · 31/10/2017 23:20

Lycon Wax all the way. I was totally against waxing after a visit left me bleeding between dermal layers but Lycon changed everything. Not even really painful as long as I avoid the time of the month and after a few regular sessions the regrow they is so minimal that I only do one every 3 months through the winter.

DiegoMadonna · 31/10/2017 23:55

Why would you want a foof like a five year old?

Why would you want armpits like a five year old? Why would you want legs like a five year old?

FredericaFreiheit · 01/11/2017 00:04

I wax - it's the only sensible thing if you want to remove your hair. A good salon - it's worth the money.

I agree that the Hollywood/Brazilian is a bit dated. I'd love a lush bush - but hair stopped growing back a few years ago and I can barely get a comb over now - so I'm sticking to the bald look.

littlechous · 01/11/2017 00:13

I last had a wax about a year ago and it was so fucking painful I said NEVER AGAIN. I now get laser, it costs a fortune but it’s worth every penny. I’m getting it on my armpits now and may invest in legs. Maybe I won’t stop until I’m as smooth as a dolphin......

FredericaFreiheit · 01/11/2017 00:16

That's a fair point little. I've never found waxing that painful, in fact underarms it really only tickles - but I'm quite blond - I've been told that makes a difference because the hairs are weaker.

If you have thick dark hair, laser is probably a good idea.

littlechous · 01/11/2017 00:18

Even the lady that waxed me commented how strong my hair was... like tree trunks with strong roots she said Sad

Never again!! Lol

Joey7t8 · 01/11/2017 06:37

Waxing all the way for me. In specialist salons they seem to have the technique to make it as painless and quick as possible, and with good results.

If you're shy about being undressed in front of a stranger, you can rest assured that these women see dozens of fannies, willies and arses every day.

"Not a single woman who removes her pubic hair has made any kind of similar disparaging comment at those who do not"

Well, they do, actually. There are always posters who talk about pubic hair being dirty, smelly, sweaty, splashed with urine and menstrual blood, wild, wooly, like a jungle- the list is endless.

Which I think is significantly more disparaging than anything the non removers ever say!

Creambun2 · 01/11/2017 06:59

Dp wants me to wax so I do. Nothing wrong with that.

moutonfou · 01/11/2017 07:56

It's the regrowth that causes the itch, not the method of removal. If you have very curly pubes they will start to curl back into the skin before they've barely got above the surface again, causing irritation.

I can't use any total removal method because the itching drives me mad.

However I use a beard trimmer on the lowest setting so I get very near to getting rid of it. But there's just enough left to avoid the itch.

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 01/11/2017 08:02

I used to love rocking a full, lush bush with just my knicker lined trimmed in and I certainly never go bare, but in the last year or two I've found it nicer kept short. I either get an extended bikini line wax or use a shaver on bikini line as it does extend down the tops of my thighs and I don't like to be THAT furry or scare random people in changing rooms. I also trim my bush back with nail scissors as it feels nicer all day long and although DP says it's my choice, I know he prefers it that length for oral. He shaves all of his off, his choice!

KarlosKKrinkelbeim · 01/11/2017 08:04

Agree Bertrand. I’ve seen many comments here about how not removing pubes is unhygienic.
Scientifically illiterate as well as rude. But then the Victorians thought terrible things would happen if women didn’t cripple themselves with corsets. Every age has its bizarre superstitions
